Exploration of the mine of St. Vitus II / Průzkum dolu sv. Víta II.
We will start the exploration of the former mine by exploring our own culvert under the railway tracks.
The pass is quite long. In the second part, it is dry and still rising gradually.
On its ceiling we can notice its expansion by the addition of the second track of the Prague Railways. This part is newer.
We will go virtually through a tunnel from 1860 to 1935.
And we already see the light at the end of the tunnel - the other end of the pass.
Let's look outside.
On the other hand, there is nothing interesting. There is an overgrown, junk-strewn gorge.
The adit once opened in it, but today we did not find any traces of it.
We go back and examine the nitro culvert in more detail. This wheel looks like some part of an old water pump.
And this vehicle won't be here that long :)
We also have a copy of the old mining map with us. It is in German, from before the completion of the second track.
We can also see the main drainage gallery on it, from which mine water still flows.
This adit has a flooded mouth today. It is still necessary to monitor it due to the fact that it leads under the track. If the water runoff and its accumulation in the underground were blocked, it could significantly disrupt the stability of the railway embankment.
It would then be necessary to reopen the mouth of the gallery to secure it and thus allow free drainage of water from the mine.
On the map, we will also notice two side galleries opening directly into the culvert. Their portals were only walled up and left open due to the free outflow of mine water.
And next time we will look inside them ...
Nahlédneme i ven.
Máme s sebou i kopii staré důlní mapy.
Pokud by došlo k ucpání odtoku vody a jejímu hromadění v podzemí, mohlo by to výrazným způsobem narušit stabilitu železničního náspu
.
