Today we will look at a quiet natural place in Pilsen, designed for reflection and contemplation.

https://www.bip.cz/cs/meditacni-zahrada

This is a meditation garden of Mr. Luboš Hruška, a political prisoner of the communist regime.
We will get here by public transport, bus no. 30. We will get off at the Tyršův most stop.

Tyršův most.jpg

We cross this bridge to the other side of the river Radbuza.
Tyršov bridge is unique with its all-welded construction, the first in Bohemia from 1933.
At the time, it was ranked among the five most daring constructions in the world. It was built by a bridgeworks in Škoda.

After the bridge, we turn left and after a few hundred meters we reach our destination, the Meditation Garden.

Luboš Hruška was convicted in 1949 for attempting to cross the state border illegally and imprisoned for 10 years in communist prisons.

When he was baptized in prison, he promised himself that if he survived and returned home, he would rebuild the family orchard into a memorial to all the victims of evil. Whether Nazi, communist or completely different.
He started creating the garden after 1960.

I met Mr. Hruška in person sometime around 1994. His story was very impressive.
For decades, he built an ornamental garden with rare conifers from his own resources and obtained the academic sculptor Roman Podrázský for his purpose, who created a set of sandstone statues for him, the biblical stops of the Stations of the Cross.
The statues were completed at the end of the 1980s and, under the constant supervision of the StB, they were installed on site at Mr. Hruška's expense.
After 1989 and the fall of the totalitarian regime, the garden could be opened to the general public.
In 1995, Mr. Hruška handed it over to the Pilsen diocese for use. The diocese undertook to maintain the garden and keep it accessible to the people.
Mr. Hruška died in 2007 and his garden remained here so we could visit her. It is a place of reconciliation and peace. Forgiveness and birth of new life of plants, fish and other inhabitants of the garden from the ranks of the animal kingdom and insects.

And now let's go together to taste her beauty. It is most beautiful at the time of flowering plants, but even in the hot summer it does not deny its charm.

IMG_20200621_142647.jpg

Stopping the Way of the Cross - The Last Supper of the Lord. Jesus is holding bread, and behind him we see the apostles.

Here is a stone that welcomes us right at the entrance to the garden.

IMG_20200621_142654.jpg

Here we have the fourth stop, Before Pilate.
The hands of Pilate of Pontus can be seen well on the statue, washing away the guilt of Jesus' crucifixion.

IMG_20200621_142747_1.jpg

We continue along a small sidewalk. Along the way, we admire a number of exotic trees and unknown plants.

IMG_20200621_142810.jpg

At the next stop, Jesus takes on the cross. We see here the rough faces of Roman soldiers who flogged him.
IMG_20200621_142827.jpg

A spruce arch, in the background Simon of Cyrene, who helped Jesus carry the cross.

IMG_20200621_142816.jpg

Mary Magdalene with the Virgin Mary. And the biblical ear of the needle.

IMG_20200621_142923.jpg

Another view. Central part of the garden with English lawn.

IMG_20200621_143020.jpg

Tenth stop - Da criminals.

IMG_20200621_143043.jpg

In the garden we find two ornamental ponds with fish.

IMG_20200621_143518.jpg

And also here after 1990 a new chapel of St. Maximilian Kolbe.
Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish priest who starved to death in a dungeon in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp when he exchanged his life for the life of a fellow prisoner, the father of a family.

In the chapel we also find a modernist altar.

Meditační zahrada 10.jpg

Sitting near the chapel ...

IMG_20200621_143817.jpg

Yeah, something else is blooming here.

IMG_20200621_143842.jpg

Our last look belongs to the chapel.
We can leave. Reconciliation and calm.
It was nice here.
The period of evil is over. We will believe in it.

https://www.bip.cz/cs/meditacni-zahrada

Vystoupíme v zastávce Tyršův most.

Tyršův most.jpg

Tento most přejdeme na druhou stranu řeky Radbuzy.
Tyršov most je unikátní svojí celosvařovanou konstrukcí, první v Čechách z roku 1933.

Odpuštění a zrození nového života rostlin, rybek a dalších obyvatel zahrady z řady zvířecí říše a hmyzu.

A teď už společně vyražme okusit její krásu.

IMG_20200621_142747_1.jpg

Pokračujeme po malém chodníčku. Cestou obdivujeme množství cizokrajných dřevin a neznámých rostlin.

IMG_20200621_142810.jpg

Na dalším zastavení bere Ježíš na sebe kříž. Vidíme zde hrubé tváře římských vojáků, kteří ho bičovali.
IMG_20200621_142827.jpg

Smrkový oblouk, v pozadí Šimon z Kyrény, který pomohl Ježíšovi nést kříž.

IMG_20200621_142816.jpg

Marie Magdaléna s Pannu Marií. A biblické ucho jehly.

IMG_20200621_142923.jpg

Jiný pohled. Centrální část zahrady s anglickým trávníkem.

IMG_20200621_143020.jpg

Desáté zastavení - Da zločinci.

IMG_20200621_143043.jpg

V zahradě najdeme i dvě okrasná jezírka s rybkami.

IMG_20200621_143518.jpg

https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxmilián_Kolbe

Kaple
IMG_20200621_143528.jpg

V kapli najdeme i modernistický oltář.

Meditační zahrada 10.jpg

Posezení nedaleko kaple...

IMG_20200621_143817.jpg

Vida, ještě tu něco kvete.

IMG_20200621_143842.jpg

Náš poslední pohled patří kapli.
Můžeme odejít. Smíření a klidní.
Bylo tady hezky.
Období zla skončilo. Budeme v to věřit.
