This is a sample of street photography taken in the town of Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela) during the last few days of July. When the rains occur almost daily and you have to take advantage of the intervals without precipitation to go out and take some pictures.

Esta es una muestra de fotografía callejera recogida en el pueblo de Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela) durante los días que han transcurrido del mes de Julio. Cuando las lluvias ocurren casi a diario y hay que aprovechar los intervalos sin precipitaciones para salir a la calle y hacer algunas fotos.

My proposal for this series of photographs does not contemplate specific rules. On the contrary, for this series I proceeded to take photos without a defined pattern, obviously I always tried to keep the "street" theme as the main protagonist of the images. But I decided to aim for details, open shots and the abstract in equal parts and in an instinctive way.

Mi propuesta para esta serie de fotografías no contempla reglas específicas. Por el contrario, para esta serie procedí a hacer fotos sin un patrón definido, obviamente que siempre procuré mantener el tema "calle" como principal protagonista de las imágenes. Pero decidí apuntar hacia los detalles, las tomas abiertas y lo abstracto a partes iguales y de forma instintiva.

The hours during which it is not raining usually present a kind of even, white light. This obviously has to do with a low cloud ceiling which distributes the light quite nicely and is conducive to taking pictures. This is even more noticeable when I go out to take these photos between 10 AM and 2 PM when the sun is high.

Las horas durante las cuales no está lloviendo suelen presentar un tipo de luz blanca y pareja. Esto obviamente tiene que ver con un techo de nubes bajo el cual distribuye la luz de forma bastante agradable y propicia para hacer fotos. Esto es aún más notable cuando salgo a hacer estas fotos entre las 10 AM y las 2 PM cuando el sol está alto.

The intensity of the light under the conditions described above also brings out the colours beautifully and without the annoying shadows that often ruin some photos in direct sunlight. The result pleased me enough to opt to leave all the pictures in colour.

La intensidad de la luz bajo las condiciones descritas previamente, también hace resaltar los colores de forma maravillosa y sin las molestas sombras las cuales suelen arruinar algunas fotos cuando tenemos luz solar directa. El resultado me agradó lo suficiente como para optar por dejar todas las fotografías en color.

Interestingly, I took these pictures using my Tokina ATX-PRO 100mm f/2.8 d MACRO lens, which is a lens perhaps better suited for portraits and obviously for macro photography. But I have to confess that I just "sometimes I like to challenge myself" and so going out to shoot with a lens that makes it difficult is something that makes me feel good.... (Yes, I know, I'm starting to sound weird 😂).

Curiosamente, hice estas fotografías usando mi lente Tokina ATX-PRO 100mm f/2.8 d MACRO, el cual es un objetivo quizás más adecuado para retratos y obviamente para macro fotografía. Pero tengo que confesar que simplemente"a veces me gusta ponerme retos" y entonces salir a hacer fotos con un lente que lo complique, es algo que me hace sentir bien... (Sí, ya lo sé, estoy comenzando a sonar raro 😂).

The town's own characteristics undoubtedly favour the taking of this type of photographs. Few people, faded walls, old houses, doors, windows and a bit of idleness conspire gracefully to generate scenes and views with a very definite photographic interest. On the other hand, the decision to use 16:9 format was not based on any particular reason. I simply cropped the first photo like this as an experiment and decided that it would be a good idea to make a series with all the other photos in this format. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed making them and editing each one to share with you.

Las características propias del pueblo favorecen de forma indiscutible el hacer este tipo de fotografías. Pocas personas, paredes decoloradas, casas viejas, puertas ventanas y algo de desidia conspiran graciosamente para generar escenas y vistas puntuales con interés fotográfico muy definido. Por otra parte, la decisión de usar formato 16:9 no estuvo basada en ninguna razón particular. Simplemente recorté la primera foto así a manera de experimento y decidí que sería una buena idea hacer una serie con todas las demás fotos bajo ese formato. Espero que las hayan disfrutado tanto como yo disfruté haciéndolas y editando cada una para compartir con ustedes.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.

NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografiar capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
