Someone waits for me/ Short story

I was never like those guys who obsess about the end; although it was an idea that sometimes wandered in my head I simply let it dilute in the distractions of breathing, I think my only big concern about it was always my little daughter, how would she feel when her father was gone, the image of her immersed in bitter tears was unbearable.
It's hard to breathe this rarefied air, I can barely move in my seat, the incalculable weight of dirt and debris on the roof of the car threatens to collapse on me at any second, I don't know how much time has passed since the incident, I reach out my hand to my cell phone that flickers behind a fractured screen. The sweat and dust on my face barely allows me to see. The little light that dubiously illuminates that my final space allows me to notice my companion in the next seat, I look at him with affection and I think I could even sketch a smile or something similar. With my fingers and a lot of effort I barely manage to brush him, my breath runs out.
The cell phone screen blinks again and a beep more muffled than me sounds, it's a text message from my daughter; she asks me how much longer it will take me to look for her, we were supposed to go for a walk to the city, she tells me other things but the damage on the screen doesn't allow me to read it, maybe it's my eyes that are damaged. I think about lying to her, that I will be soon looking for her, I guess it would be less painful a little deception, then I think it would be better to tell her the truth and say goodbye.
My mind gets cloudy, short of breath, I look at my seat next to me looking for comfort in my companion, the last jolt has made him come a little closer, I think I can reach him, I reach out again and manage to grab him, I pull him to me and let him rest on my chest, there is no more time, I open it with desperation and take a sip. It is my old coffee thermos, my faithful companion and today in my last moment it gives me my last coffee. I take my cell phone and start to type a fragmented message to my daughter: My dear girl, today I won't be able to look for you, something happened...

An incredible story that gripped me and made me feel anger with a mixture of sadness for its ending.
When I grow up I want to write like this, stories that pierce the being and bring out emotions. Reading you is learning.

Emotional, heartbreaking and powerful. Your short story is a tragic and impactful read. Coffee can take the edge off the most dreadful circumstances, so glad he had coffee, at least!
Hello, thanks for reading and share your thoughts with me! I supposed that I have this story stuck on me. Thanks to spill the beans it came out!
A cruel story that reminds us how fragile we are in this universe. Good way to enter a subject as complicated as conveying the last words. I send you a hug.
