From Mud to Success 🐷🐖 Our Joyful Journey Raising Happy Pigs for a Thriving Homestead and Future Prosperity

Living in the countryside teaches you many things patience resourcefulness and the joy of working with your own hands. One of the meaningful things we have recently done as a family is raising a pig right here on our small homestead. It may seem like a simple decision but for us it is more than that. This pig represents our effort to build something sustainable for the future something we can rely on for food and even income when the time comes..

When we first brought this pig home it was still quite small and shy. It did not know us and we did not know it yet either. But slowly through feeding cleaning its space and making sure it stays healthy we built a connection. In time it learned to recognize our presence. Whenever we bring feed it comes running happily There is something fulfilling about seeing an animal grow under your care. Every day we notice small changes it gets bigger stronger and more active

We allow the pig to roam around during certain times of the day. That is why in the photos, you can see it walking freely on the grassy path near the trees. Our surroundings are rich with fresh air and the ground stays cool because of the shade from coconut and other plants. This kind of environment makes the pig healthier and happier than if it were confined all day. It enjoys foraging smelling around, and exploring the area sometimes even with our dog watching or walking behind it. It is does not amusing how the two seem to have developed a little friendship even though they are very different animals..

Taking care of a pig requires effort but it also teaches discipline. We need to feed it on time provide clean drinking water and make sure its shelter is well kept. Sometimes the expenses can be challenging especially when feed prices go up. But we always remind ourselves that this is an investment. Soon when the pig reaches the right size and time, we will have something we can benefit from. Whether it is for food, or to sell for income it will be a great help to the family. In our provinc raising pigs has long been a practical way of supporting daily needs and we are simply continuing what many before us have done...

But beyond practicality there is a deeper meaning. This pig symbolizes growth and patience. It shows us that even small steps matter. We didn’t start big. We did not have a large farm or many animals. We simply started with one. And that is enough. Every day that we feed and care for it is a reminder that progress is built slowly one day at a time.

In the future we hope to raise more pigs or maybe even other livestock. Our dream is to slowly build a homestead where everything has a purpose where we rely less on stores and more on what we produce ourselves. For now we are grateful for this pig for the lessons the joy the hard work and the hope it brings to our simple life.
