How to Make Elephant Ear Bread

Well, on this sunny Friday, Ema and I will share a fairly unique bread recipe for all of you. This bread is called elephant ear bread because it has a wide dough and is arranged in a baking dish similar to elephant ears. This bread is quite popular in Indonesia and not a few people sell this bread as delicious souvenirs. Well, the ingredients for making elephant ear bread are certainly not expensive and you can buy all these ingredients at the nearest supermarket or market in your city. The first ingredients you have to prepare are margarine, mineral water, yeast, powdered milk, salt, sugar, wheat flour and sesame seeds. after you have prepared all the ingredients, now let's start the first step of making elephant ear bread.

The first step, what you have to do first is prepare a place and put 250 grams of high protein flour, 45 grams of sugar, 4 grams of instant yeast and 10 grams of powdered milk. After that, stir the dry mixture until well blended.

the second step, after the dry dough has been stirred until well blended, then add enough mineral water into the dough and then knead the dough by hand until the dough becomes half smooth.

the third step, after the dough has been kneaded until half smooth, now all you have to do is add 1 tablespoon of margarine and half a teaspoon of salt. then, knead the dough again until the dough becomes smooth. The steps for making elephant ear bread are similar to other bread recipes in general.

the fourth step, after the dough has been kneaded until smooth, then all you have to do is cover the dough using a clean cloth and let the dough double for about half an hour depending on your room temperature.

the fifth step, after the dough has expanded from before, then prepare the work mat and put the dough on the work mat. after that, cut and weigh the dough with the same size and weight. Then, round all the dough like the photo above.

the sixth step, after the dough has been cut and rounded like the previous step, the next thing you have to do is take 1 dough that you first rounded, then flatten the dough a little like the photo above. then, spread margarine evenly over the dough and repeat this step until all the dough is like this.

seventh step, after you have flattened and spread margarine, then all you have to do is prepare a round baking sheet and spread margarine evenly in the pan. then, arrange the dough into the pan like the photo above and cover the dough using a clean cloth, let the dough rest for about half an hour depending on your room temperature.

the eighth step, after the dough has been rested for half an hour, the next thing you have to do is spread the liquid milk evenly over the dough and then sprinkle the toppings according to your wishes like the photo above.

the last step, after all the dough has been sprinkled with toppings according to your wishes, then all you have to do is prepare the oven and preheat the oven for 10 minutes. after the oven is hot, enter the dough pan and bake the dough at a temperature of 170 or 180 degrees Celsius, with fire up and down for about 25 or 30 minutes depending on the oven you use.

and finally, after the bread dough has been baked for 30 minutes, then you can serve this elephant ear bread to your family or friends. to make it more delicious, you can add chocolate jam or other jam according to your wishes. This bread is very suitable to be eaten with milk or warm tea, because this bread is only sweet and does not taste anything.
