A Quest For Pointing At The Moon In My Selfie

It was a full moon the other day and I saw posts on Hive sharing photos of the moon, I normally do not pay much attention to the moon, unlike the sun which I am always looking for an opportunity to observe and photograph sunset moments.
From my side of the world in Cotonou, Benin I happened to be on the beach and spotted the moon in my selfie, so it sparked a playful challenge for me to point at the moon in my selfie, it took a few tries for me to get it right, probably not 100% right but I did give it a shot that turned out to be fun for me.
Just another one of the fun activities I enjoy when I am at the beach.

Great selfies bro. That was the blue moon, actually a full moon comes only once in a month but this August had two full moons. This phenomenon will occur again in 2037, so you captured a special full moon. I did also capture some pics of it and am glad you did too.
Thank you for sharing and keep enjoying your weekend :}
Wow, I didn't know this, it was a coincidence that I captured the full moon not knowing it was a special one. Thanks for letting me know about this, it now makes sense why I saw photos of moon in posts on Hive last week.
Have a blessed day bro.

It's tough because of the difference in brightness. The camera meter will average the exposure to make it brighter, which makes the moon wash out. If you expose for the moon, then the rest is too dark. You picked a good challenge.
Thank you 😇
I made an attempt to capture the moon with my phone but it did not come out nice, so selfie looks better. I am going to invest in a proper camera one of these days.

I think mobile cameras allow you to adjust the ISO (exposure) too. It's just not always obvious.
From experience, I can tell you it's also challenging to photograph the moon with point and shoot or DSLR camera. You end up fighting the light meter unless you go full manual mode. This is mostly from a limitation of digital sensors, which is why people started doing HDR photography, which takes the same picture multiple times. One is underexposed, one is regular exposure, and another is overexposed. Then the images are combined to create a brighter, more evenly exposed image.
It's possible you have an HDR setting on your phone. The only drawback is that you need to keep the camera still so that all three shots are identical. It's fun to tinker with the settings. You could easily go down a rabbit hole.
