Curious Noses and Cheeky Bites | Horseplay at my Vehicle

I am writing this post with an eye almost closed from a much needed power nap after work today, thats how tired I am!

Yesterday I was in Litchfield for work, a 50km kilometer drive from Christchurch. When I arrived at the farm there were horses 🐎, for me that's a big scary challenge.

I called the farmer several times, no response. I took photos and reported the horses on the farm on Teams chat group. They found it funny and liked it, no one took me serious of being scared.

I called my field manager and he told me horses are tame and would only act curious. So I had no choice but to brave up and drive into a farm with four houses 🙆‍♀️ to get my job done on the cell site.

My field manager was right, they're are actually tame and very curious. They took turns to inspect my vehicle, one almost ripped off my windscreen wiper, I had to scream "leave my wipers alone"

It was scary and fun too, they would come and go and the time was good as they moved further away was when i finished my job and I packed up are hurriedly drove out of the farm 🚜.

That was my day in Litchfield yesterday, adventure is never far away from my day on the field.

Horses are large animals and with 1200+ pounds of muscle, they can be intimidating. Your last photo reminds me of a horse we used to have; I've had 3 in my lifetime. This particular horse we called Piti, short for Wapiti. It is an Anasazi word meaning 'elk'. She was a funny girl in that she would come up to you and if you had another person with you, while they scratched her withers, if you would stand directly in front of her, she would groom you as you see horses do for each other. She'd start along your shoulders, moving to your back and occasionally, she'd also give you a scalp message! She was very good. I'd often take turns with my children, each of us scratching her withers while she groomed us. She never bit any of us, but man, was she good at what she did!

Thank you for sharing the beautiful photographs!

To be honest I saw how large they are because at a point I was inside the vehicle and the horse was standing on the side of the vehicle, my vehicle looked so small 😄

Yesterday I wanted people like you to tell me its okay, I have a friend that also use to own horses and almost called her to alleviate my fears.

Thanks for sharing your Piti with us, it must be lovely having her do that and situations like that would be me to be comfortable around horses.

They're beautiful animals though, yesterday was the closest I ever gor to horses and my daughter who is a year and half have had a horse ride 😃
