Today, however, Twitter announced a key hire as it aims to avoid a similar event in the future. Twitter has added famed hacker Peiter Zatko, a.k.a. “Mudge”, to join its executive team and serve as Head of Security for the social network.

Zatko was previously a member of hacker think tank L0pht Heavy Industries, as well as a member of hacker collective Cult of the Dead Cow. He testified before a Senate committee in 1998 about cybersecurity and briefed President Bill Clinton in 2000 about DDoS attacks. More recently, Zatko served as project manager for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) starting in 2010 before leaving in 2013 to work for Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group.

After suffering hack attack back in July, it only makes sense to prevent reoccurrence in the future by not only getting a suitable candidate but a candidate that have been a hacker himself.

Zatko known as Mudge seems to have some experience under his belt judging from the above quote.
Interesting to see a hacker's talent being put to good use instead of arresting and locking them up.

I suppose one of the easier way to get recognized is show the world your hacking talent and in return land yourself and executive job in hack prevention.

Twitter's interest in going decentralized might be futher strengthen with Mudge in the mix, it does depends how decentralized Twitter intends to go though.

Cheers.

We owe it to ourselves to make Hive great

“Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.” (Michael Corleone)

You see that happen more often. Kevin Mitnick has a job in security now too.
They are the best experts you can get I think.

I think it is best to give them a job, otherwise they will keep hacking and who knows we might be a victim to there plots.
