The Fear Of Things Going Wrong

avatar

At one point or the other, we have given in to fear in our lives. The fear of the unknown has prevented us from making moves in our lives, rather we stick to the known where things are black and white and not having to deal with unknown outcomes.

This self-talk has either prevented us from living life to the fullest, achieving our goals, or perhaps in some cases preventing us from loss but the outcomes remain unknown until a move is made.

Self-Doubt

The mind is powerful and it is often said and from experience, if we can control our mind for a more positive thought a lot of positive outcomes might come our way than we can think of but the human mind is very good at doing its thing, the self-doubt comes in now and then posing questions at us, leaving us with doubts.

How we react to self-doubt is what builds our character to take on the challenges of life. At times we find the answers we seek within ourselves, though it is sometimes better to share our thoughts with the right people in our lives for opinions that might be of positive impact on our decision.

Living In Fear

Hope is non-existent where fear is dominant, my recent move from South Africa isn't without a doubt or even fear, there are moments when I ask myself what if things don't go right?

There seem to be external forces that play on our thoughts and emotions, these forces are there to justify whether we are doing the right or wrong thing. Recently I got an email from a job agency in South Africa with an "exciting" offer.

I am currently based in the Republic of Benin, if you are trying to reach me from South Africa I left there just over a week ago.
I am afraid can't take the job opportunity you are trying to contact me about if it is for a job in South Africa. The country was stifling my growth with the whole work permit and permanent resident permit thing so I left.

I am however open to opportunities anywhere in the world contract or permanent in the RF (Telecoms) field.
You will have to add the +229 dialing code for Benin Republic to reach my number 6.....

Regards

After a back-and-forth email from the company trying to get hold of me, I had to clarify that I am no longer in SA.

Anyone in my shoes could be asking if it was not a mistake to leave SA but as I mentioned above the answer lies within us.

It is a job offer that I am most likely not going to be employed for even with my experience and qualification because there was one thing always in the way of employment; a work permit.

Having the courage to rise above the fear of the unknown led me to be a resident of Benin at present with the intent to make it permanent.

The Positive Mental Character

To keep me going courageously two things are influencing my attitude, I have a Telecom skill that is capable of landing me a job anywhere in the world, and secondly, Hive has been here and hopefully will continue to be the source of my support financially until a job comes along.

Are there doubts and fear arising now and then? yes, and I am very quick to discard the negative thoughts the moments they seek residence in my head.

I definitely understand that one might experience self doubt especially when they make a big decision regarding their lives. The universal has a way of making us question our judgement, just like that job offer you got there, It's crazy how that offer came after you've left SA nevertheless we just have to keep believing we made the right choice. I have been really regretting not taking any profit the last bull run, it happens this way sometimes.

I was surprised to receive a job offer email and the extent to which they repeatedly try to get hold of me made me clarify to them that I am no longer in SA and they did not respond when I mentioned no longer in the country.

Incidents like this make us question ourselves now and then but I strongly feel I am in a better space now. I assume that you are all set to take a profit when the next bull run arrives.

I also have a similar attitude. Self doubt can be an uncomfortable feeling to experience but I see it as part of the process of moving forward and exploring the unknown. We must learn to let go of the old to let the new come in.

We must learn to let go of the old to let the new come in.

This sums it up nicely, often we don't want to let go of the old but we want something new, naturally, we don't grow by remaining the same, we grow in every aspect of our lives leaving the older version of us behind.

It's too bad that you weren't there for the job opportunity but I have heard you talk about the work permit issue and I think it was the right choice to move. It's going to take some time but I am sure you will get back on track soon enough. Just be confident and it will work out.

I need to hear this lol, thanks man, you guys and Hive as a whole have been my source of courage. I am hopeful of getting back on track soon and surpassing the stage I was over there in SA with the freedom to do things I want to do.

You made the right move, never doubt that! Many offers go out, hundreds apply, more often than not they never get back to you with a firm offer either. With Home Affairs never issuing the work permit you hit a brick wall....

Something will become available you have the knowledge and expertise in a couple of avenues, hope you settled in now and enjoying what you see, not having to look over your shoulder constantly.
