¿Qué me ayudo?

Hi hive moms and dads! Continuing with the @motherhood challenge today I will leave my point of view about Tv and cell phones for kids, yes or no?
According to the World Health Organization published in 2019, for the first time, recommendations on how much time young children can spend watching TV or playing with a cell phone.
Source: https://news.un.org/ United Nations Portal.
In summary, they indicate that children under 2 years of age should not use cell phones and television, but after this age, the less time they are exposed to these devices the better, why? Because it is necessary to avoid a sedentary lifestyle and allow the child or adolescent to develop their growth in constant movement, allow them to have adequate sleep and avoid obesity at such an early age.
This makes me remember my growth and my childhood was like that of many, very active, although the Nintendo appeared in our lives our parents placed game schedules and as for the TV I remember that I enjoyed occasional cartoons because I preferred to play with my friends.

IMG_20211226_164038_430.jpg

This memory is what I try to apply with my kids and it is no secret that it is basically inevitable to expose them to the cell phone or TV but, many times we make the mistake of turning these means of distraction into "digital babysitters" and I think that's where the problem lies.
If we do not supervise, if we do not control the time and let the children enjoy this entertainment as they please, then we will turn this device into their "mom" because they will become rebellious and "if they are not connected, nothing is exciting", they do not know what to do and they even have tantrums, it is important that to avoid this the example starts at home, you probably tell me "Joha but it is impossible, I have to be glued to the cell phone because of my work or I watch TV when I get home tired" I understand you but I do not support you. As a mom I also go through the same situations, I am a community manager and I worked in TV so imagine how much time this demanded from me, yes, it was exhausting... What helped me? -Organization.

IMG_20220104_175516_033.jpg

I learned to distribute my time, I set a schedule for my work and I try to dedicate as much time as possible to sharing. Play and enjoy with my children, to make what for them can be boring into something funny and so they laugh but they do it and yes, from the 3 year old baby to the 14 year old teenager they use the cell phone and watch TV but, with rules and with the appropriate content for each age.
We are at a time in history when technology is very important in the development of our children, but this should not create a dependency, although on TV and the Internet there is a lot of information in a good book and even in the stories there are extraordinary worlds that help us develop the imagination, at home the balance is very important and in this case does not lose strength because part of the family philosophy is that we must always take the bad out of the good and the good out of the bad in all aspects of life.

So, should children use cell phones and TVs?

  • Yes! It is inevitable, but their use should not be excessive, we can not leave the responsibility of total entertainment of life to these devices, the more we can avoid them the better.
Let's show happiness to our children out of the screens, let's enjoy a rest that as moms we deserve and let's take advantage so they can sleep a little more, let's keep physically active thanks to the games with them and keep learning every day because we can explore new worlds through imagination.
