Well, to be honest, there was also some of the color I have been searching for ... a little bit in the beginning and later a bit more :)

After finishing my night shift this morning, I drove home, changed my clothes, grabbed my photo backpack and headed for the mountains to hopefully see autumnal orange colored larches.

Compared to the past days it was quite cold at 2C down in the valley and there was an ice cold wind in the mountains and it was snowing very lightly every now and then.

UFO or cloud? Some cloud formations looked more interesting than the mountains. I don't see such massive clouds very often.

As said in the beginning, there was some color - a few trees have already changed their color, mostly the ones that were growing higher up on the mountains.

Just as I stopped the car to take a photo of some orange larches, the sun was peeking over the hill and lit them nicely up.

In the beginning of my trip, there were almost no autumnal colored trees, but the further I drove into the mountains, the more orange spots appeared between the still green trees.

Below you can see the same tree photographed today and on October 26, 2020. So, in about 2 weeks time the tree should be orange again. If you look close (click to open in fullsize), you will see that a few branches have already started to turn orange.

Just in case you want to know where I have been: I was driving on the Nockalm Road through the Nock Mountains (Wikipedia).

The Indian Summer

What is there sadd'ning in the Autumn leaves?
Have they that "green and yellow melancholy"
That the sweet poet spake of? Had he seen
Our variegated woods, when first the frost

Of the wild Equinox, with all its wet,

The moon stays longest for the Hunter now:
The trees cast down their fruitage, and the blithe
And busy squirrel hoards his winter store:
While man enjoys the breeze that sweeps along
The bright blue sky above him, and that bends
Magnificently all the forest's pride,
Or whispers through the evergreens, and asks,
"What is there sadd'ning in the Autumn leaves?"

In about two weeks all green will have turned into a beautiful orange colored woodland. Hopefully the weather will be just as nice as it was today: quite cloudy with the sun peeking through from time to time.

Such great shots here that I live in each photo Hannes.
I saw in the one photo that you guys also try to have UFO clouds over there, glad to see them also in Austria.

A couple of these photos would surely be very good NFT entries methinks.

Yes, we are trying to have UFO clouds here too, but they are not easy to make - you have to compress a lot of normal clouds and form them to this shape, so they are very rare here ... 😆🤣

I'm waiting for the Autumn colors and take more photos then - the orange colored mountains look great :)

Good cloud workers are hard to find these days and they cost a lot of money, so we are happy to get one or two clouds a year 🤣

Yes, preparation always counts and you will know exactly where to go. So I also think that the photos will be great NFT stuff, as you have now also been on NFT for a while and you have seen what kind of photos sell well. You are right as things can only get better 🙂

Marian and I found an open gate on Sunday at the large lake where I saw the flamingos last year.
We went in and I did a recon of the exact spot where I saw the flamingos.
The problem is that it is a big lake and we could only walk a quarter of the the way to the spot, as my knee started to complain.

So now we are waiting for the flamingos to arrive and knee or no knee, I will go right up to them behind the reeds and hopefully get some great shots.
I will show you the lake in a post tomorrow.

Oh? I thought that Austria is a rich country and that they could employ hundreds of workers? So you guys are just as poor as us 🤣

Exactly and just as fashions change continously, so peoples likes also change. Now they will saturate the site with the current likes until it becomes too much, then others will stand a chance to go big.
Just a matter of time.

Still haven't downloaded it yet, as busy with doctors and work in between.

The money would be great and help a lot, but it would be only an additional reward to the great time outdoors and the photography.

The sad thing is that we are all tethered by money, or a lack of it to complete our dreams.
Patience and hard work is always the answer and if we cannot get what we want, then it was simply never meant for us.
Hard to accept, but the truth.

I don't see you as a moaner at all and it's never a crime to put your feelings out there.
Or here on Hive for that matter 😉

In two weeks all will be orange - I do really hope that I can get there and the weather will be nice for photography. Last year it was all gray in gray and almost no structures in the clouds.

Yep, the UFO was a really nice surprise - this kind of clouds is so seldom here, or I just don't look up vey often to see them 🤣

I haven't been at the same spot as last year when I took the photo yesterday, because last year I was in the middle of the road, but next time I know where to stand 😁

It's a biosphere reserve area and about an hour drive from home - Austria is small 😎

A peek at the in-between of autumn and winter is a wondrous thing @johannpiber. Thank you for letting me come along on your drive. Such a great way to clear the head of work. Nature is amazing in everywhere which your clever photography showed us so nicely. I really loved the alien spaceship cloud sitting all alone. It as obviously waiting for you to take its photo I think. I look forward to the really white Nock Mountain in a couple of months. Happy night @johannpiber

It can snow in our mountains even in Summer and I have been in snow storms in August before, so the white stuff didn't surprise me that much, to be honest, but I was hoping for much more orange colored larch trees. But that doesn't bother me either, because now I have a reason to return in two weeks 😁

Yeah, the UFO was such a nice surprise for me too. I am always hoping for such cool looking clouds, but maybe I don't look up to the sky often enough 😉

I'm not sure if I can show you these mountains in Winter, because the road will be closed from the beginning of November and hiking up there might be too much for me, but we have other mountains too and I want to make at least one or two snow hikes this Winter.

I love the comparison of the tree in two different periods. It's incredible how much things have changed since we were kids and the seasons were actually seasons and don't have snow in autumn, as it happens these days.

In the mountains we have always had snow, even in Summer from time to time, depending on the weather of course ;)
But I agree, the seasons have changed since we were kids. I remember hot Summers, but not as hot as nowadays, and there was never such a sudden change from hot to bad weather, and in the Winter we have had snow, much more snow everywhere.

Lone cloud dancing above and the fuzzy looking tree second last photograph are the two that captured my eye, early gold starting to shine through from the deep green.

Transition between what the chubby tree looks like now in green, what it will look like in a couple of weeks, nice reference to the imminent change to come.

An excellent hike out to enjoy nature after a long arduous week cooped up indoors.

I can almost smell the freshness in the air looking at these amazing photos, Hannes. Love the single UFO cloud….There might even be an alien ship hiding behind it. :)

The orange cloud of the Larches stand out nicely against the scattered snow in the background. The larch is often called Tamarack here. Because of the height, it looks like you were in the UFO when you took the photo. :)🛸

John Brainard’s Indian Summer poem is perfect and captures the mood this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere.🍂🐿

I would have loved it if an alien ship would have been in this cloud. I would have played hitch hiker and maybe they would have showed me the Mars or their world 😃
Even a flight over the mountains to take cool photos from above would have been fine, but so I have just been on the other side of the small valley between the hills ;)

I have heard Tamarack before, but I would never have thought it's a tree. Maybe I will remember it next time.

It was great to see, but most of that white stuff has been melted already, some will stay till the Winter though ;)

Maybe I'll have a look this Saturday if the colors have already changed and I have seen a few interesting trees which I want to photograph, but I'll see...

It is amazing to see snow still around even though it could be autumn, summer or whatever season it just gives the landscapes that unique beauty about it just like postcard pictures as all your ones look like 👍

Mother Nature does an incredible job decorating the trees in their autumn attire, doesn't she? Truly one of the best parts of fall is witnessing the changing colors of foliage. You did a terrific job capturing the warmth of the sunset against the trees and the stunning scenery, as usual! @johannpiber

Call me strange! I see a face of a fierce Norse or Greek god rapidly dashing forth on the front of that uniquely shaped cloud.

thank you so much for asking, my friend, I'm fine, but I can tell you that being off work is more stressful than going to work: I go to bed earlier than usual and get up at 5 at the latest and thenI drive somewhere to take photos. When I come home in the afternoon I am too tired to do much more then the necessary things like downloading the photos and a little bit of editing, hiving and twittering ;)

When I will go back to work next week, my life will be easier again 🤣 lol

I hope everything's fine down in Down Under too ... here we have quite nice weather, but it's getting frosty in the mornings ... frost and fog, that's the next beautiful time after the colourful Autumn 😉

Isn't that funny @johannpiber I know the feeling when we are of work our whole routine's are turned upside down and we loose track of everything that's why I am later replying I lost all time of things and got myself lost in the mountains 😁

Anyways weather is great in down under and all is going well now that I am back on track 😁
