We have had a foggy and rainy weekend, but if you think that I have taken any rain photos, you are wrong πŸ˜‰

I wanted to take some sunrise photos on a beach in Italy on Sunday and drove 2 hours only to see that sunrise wouldn't happen, because dark storm clouds had covered the whole sky. Lightning bolts told me that getting up at 3am and the long drive south was for nothing.

It was still too dark in the morning to take any photos and because there was nothing around that I could have used as shelter, I thought there might be an umbrella in the car trunk ... of course, there was none, but my son had forgotten the wheels of his friend's motorbike in there ;)

So, what did I do? Well, I didn't drive directly home, but decided to drive towards the east and through Slovenia. "Maybe I can take some rainy photos on my way back home", I thought, but did I? Of course I didn't because it either rained so hard that I couldn't get out of the car or almost nothing.

No rainy photos for this post, but...

A while after the Italian-Slovenian border I arrived in Kobarid (SočaValley.com - Towns in the Soča Valley), a historic town beneath the Krn mountain range.
At first I wanted to just drive on, but then I saw the already risen sun shining through the clouds in the east, and a single sun ray shone directly on a church in quite a distance. It was still very dark below the clouds, but this single sun ray enlightened the darkness quite nicely.

Later, I drove by the highest waterfall in Slovenia, the Boka Waterfall / Slap Boka (106 metres plus 30 metres - SočaValley.com - Boka Waterfall). From the road I could see low hanging clouds right above the fall and so I stopped and hiked up to a viewpoint.
The waterfall isn't very far from the road and my "hike" was only about 10 or 15 minutes I believe. While I was hiking the clouds covered the waterfall completely, but when I arrived at my viewpoint they raised just above the fall and I liked what I saw - hope you like it too.

A farm field with some still beautiful autumnal trees and a few already leafless trees caught my attention a few kilometres further, and I just had to stop to take a couple of photos.
While walking through the field I noticed that the farmer must have spread a lot of dung on the field not long ago ... "watch your steps" I thought and tried to keep my boots clean - it worked ... almost πŸ˜‰

My way lead over the Vrőič Pass (1,611 m) and on my way down the fog has become immense intense and it was slightly raining, but I like the photos I have taken back down on the other side of a little forest.

Just in case the above rainless photos from my Sunday's photo trip don't qualify for the contest, I have added a few photos of leaves with real raindrops in between, which I have taken 10 days ago, still "after the rain", but the drops are real 😊

Of course I would have been happy if the sunrise would have happened on the beach, but all in all I have had a great day on the road, took a few photos of which I like the one with the sun ray most ... I wasn't disappointed at all, and there will always be another sunrise.
And someone from the US would just smile about me when I say a two hours drive is long LOL

All photos were taken with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 L STM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM, Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6,3 DG OS HSM C.

Sometimes there are people at the bottom of this waterfall, but unfortunately, there were no other people around that day to show the size, because it's really massive.

Awesome photos and yes, for me, all would qualify for this week's theme because you don't necessarily have to show rain but even just the concept of rain will do. I feel the rain in all the photos, most especially the waterfalls. Excellent, as always. Best of luck on the draw.

My plans have been different, but Mother Nature had other plans and I didn't mind very much because Mother Nature does what she wants anyway and she has disappointed me very seldom - so, it was still wet and as you said, even the concept of rain will do πŸ˜‰

Magical photos here and I agree with JJ, as the waterfall shots takes the cake Hannes.
But of course all of the photos were done with the usual mountain goat flair, which turn them into artworks.

It amazes me that y0u can travel for 2 hours through other countries and over here we can travel 7-12 hours in the same province.
From here in the Cape we can drive for 29 hours through 4 provinces to the northern border of the country at Beit Bridge.

Oh! Very beautiful photos. I love every single detail in each photo; i.e. the leaves with the raindrops, the single sun ray, the waterfall with light clouds, the forest with fog, the trees with colorful leaves. I enjoyed watching them and feel like I were there and experiencing these wonderful things with you.

Me a workaholic? Only if I get paid, and in a 24-hour shift I get paid for sleeping 🀣 It's no good sleep and I am even more tired than when I sleep at home, because of the computers and other noise, but still I get money for sleeping πŸ™ƒ

I don't think we will see the sun today, because the fog will not dissolve till the evening, if it dissolves at all.

I can't remember much fog where I grew up, but I love it when I walk and can't see and almost not hear the other people because of the fog ... and they don't see mee, what is also about the same as playing hide and seek 😁

It was funny playing in the fog actually funny thing I don't see much fog around my way like I use to as a kid all got to do with climate changes I suppose I do miss it.

Here at the lake we we have enough fog during the colder seasons - colleagues who live higher up have sunshine and see a white sea of fog below them and we are living below this white sea in foggy darkness 😁

Nice Sunday drive, no matter the weather if no sunrise sure to be clouds and rain, predictable at least!

Waterfall and golden/brown leaves everywhere give a good feel of where you have been, the misty forest is full of liquid air, definitely equivalent to rain... in a fine way.

Absolutely stunning! The waterfall is magical, with eh mist and fog hemming in that beauty. So much going on here, sun, rays, waterfall and absolutely mystical fog. I don't think you could of had a more perfect morning.

That's true, if the planned sunrise would have happened I would have spent the morning there and then I would have driven home. That way I could take many different types of photos 😁
