A good friend of mine said to me that I should give it a try and don't plan my day but just enjoy it and I might get surprised.
Well, I thought the idea was great and I have had no plan for today anyway, so I just packed my things in the evening and when I woke up at about 2:30 am, I got up and a little later I have been on my way. I had chosen to go south, maybe shoot a sunrise in the mountains or visit a waterfall or photograph something else that would surprise me.

When I left home the sky was clear, the weather was nice and a little later after crossing the border to Slovenia I got my first surprise: the roads were wet and the sky was cloudy, I had not expected such and the surprise got even bigger by driving through heavy rains and thunder storms all morning long till I got home.
The sunrise didn't happen and walking through a gorge or through the woods to a waterfall wouldn't have been comfortable but also dangerous because wet stones can become quite slippery.

Having at least a plan "B" somewhere in my mind wouldn't have been a bad idea were my thoughts while I was driving in the rain, but it is as it is or how my friend Zac would say: "such is life" 😎 and because it was raining everywhere my plan "B" might also not have worked.

But looking back now, all in all it has been a quite nice morning (inside the car) anyway and driving around was nice too, because the roads have been pretty much empty. I have been to Slovenia and to Italy and I have crossed 6 mountain passes on my way ... not bad either.

But on the other hand I haven't got the chance to take any photos today. So, all I have for this post are some images of a small waterfall I have visited in Slovenia a few weeks ago.

The waterfall is in the Radovna Valley in Slovenia and it is not very high but a curved and rather wide man made waterfall. It doesn't look that spectacular in nature - the long exposure times result in such nice effects in the photos.

After I have come home today, I spent the afternoon with editing these and some other photos and developing a plan "B" for tomorrow, because I took a week off and I want to try the same tomorrow morning as I did today - as I said above: the idea of having no plan is great.
So, if I don't reply within a few hours I might be somewhere in the rain ... or hopefully better in the sunshine 🌞

The last photo for today is a panorama of a part of the waterfall - the sun that has just risen was peeking through the trees and has started to illuminate the waterfall in some places.
I am thinking of putting this image to my NFT gallery on Foundation where I already have another panorama photo of this waterfall.

All photos were taken with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS II USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 L STM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM, Sigma 100-400mm F5-6,3 DG OS HSM C.

The waterfall in the Radovna Valley in Slovenia turned out great with the long exposure..smooth looking. Water is a refreshing emerald green.

I think your 'no plan day' turned out exactly the way it was meant to be @johannpiber. I have read that once we put expectations out there it changes everything. The saying that 'You never get what you expect' is true. Actually I think this is my saying, hahaha, only because it happens to me.

I love it when the day unfolds with no plans, something lovely always happens. As yours did with your tripping into Slovenia and Italy, and even better you took some really lovely shots. Rain gives that extra touch to a day.

if you want to take photos it's better to have a plan, which should include the weather forecast, but at the moment I don't mind and take it as it comes, so yesterday was a good day without plan and today will be the same ... I'll see what the day will bring 😁

I have also experienced that whenever I didn't expect great views or best weather I have got just that 😀

I think the Australian versions of Greek gods prefer the warm Australian winters to the cool Austrian summers. If it gets too cold they hop into the warm pouch of a Kangaroo and sleep till the sun is shining again ... they do the same when they have had too much Heineken, I believe 🤣

6 mountain passes sounds much, but since everything here is so close together and the valleys so narrow, 6 passes are easy to make in a couple of hours, especially when there are only a few other cars on the road 😀

Actually, at school I have learned stitching with the girls and knitting too. I have knitted my own socks and gloves, but that's many, many years ago and I wouldn't know anymore how to knit these days 😆

I have made a hike yesterday - some phone images are on Twitter, but the photos from the camera aren't much better I think. Will have to edit them when I have more time, because this morning I've been in a forest for some waterfall photos, but there were so many tourists around that I didn't feel right and so the photos aren't looking good in my eyes. I have posted one on Twitter a couple of minutes ago.
Tomorrow I want to go to a gorge about 100 kilometers away, but I am afraid that there will be many tourists again - so I'll call it a scouting tour because I have never been there before.

Enjoy the ride, tourists darned cannot get rid of them in high season, we all think alike!

Hope the spot is quiet, or not an easy to walk, most don't like a little difficulty... then you will get the photographs hopefully.

As for stitching, I thought you would know since most do, prepare some Chamois Leather which is easy to cut and stitch, saves the socks and slipping around in winter, or Plan B...

It is a gorge and very loud because of the river and the waterfalls, I believe 😉 and you may believe me that tourists would go anywhere for a photo or for a selfie 😎
But I'll be there when they open and most times when I do so I meet them when I am on my way back.

I am frequently without a plan and it almost never disappoints, although it takes me a moment or three to find that silver lining sometimes.

I love the softness of those long exposures! The good part is that you will probably do it again tomorrow, taking the beautiful drive and making your way into Slovenia. When I looked up the weather today for you, it appeared that it was going to be a perfectly wonderful day with rain and thunder, but, not until tonight! I hope my Alexa app wasn't lying to me! :)

Your Alexa was completely right, but I was stupid enough to start editing a photo a few minutes before I wanted to go for a motorbike ride, and so I sat here till now and am still not finished with it. But the day was relaxing anyway and tomorrow is another day :)

I usually have a plan where I go and what I expect to see, and because I have been disappointed many times before, I have decided to give it a try and just drive without any plans. There was no photo opportunity due to the weather, but I haven't been disappointed at all 😁

I think all of these photos should be on NFT, as at times people like my photos that I thought was the lesser photos. These are all great shots.

Sorry that this unplanned day didn't work out, but maybe I raised your expectations too much.

At least Mother nature decided to give the mountain goat a free car wash for his trouble to convince her to give you something 🤣

No need to be sorry, Zac, the day was fine and I haven't been disappointed at all. It would have been bad if I had planned to visit a specific place with expectations and it would had rained there, but no plan and no expectations mean no problems with bad weather. Some photos would have been nice, but no necessity, and the car wash was free, just as you say :)))

These are nice shots, but not great in my eyes, and the two panoramas are already NFT's - I'm curious how long it takes until a Richie Rich finds them :)

Well, I have had this thought quite a few times before, but I don't think we would have met all these great people on the Hive or even our families ... it's best as it is now and every day the beach chair would be boring 😀😎
