Water on the Rocks
Aren't rocks called boulders when they are lying solitary somewhere?
Anyway, I will use both names in this post without thinking too much, if you don't mind π
Water on the Rocks
I think it was the golden looking rock in the middle of the SoΔa river in the last photo of this post that gave birth to my love for solitary rocks / boulders in rivers a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it was only a rock that shone kind of golden in the morning sun.

So, whenever I see an interesting looking boulder in a river or a lake since that day, I take a photo, and some of my latest I'm sharing here with you. Most of the images have been taken at the SoΔa river or one of its tributaries.

The Dream Rock
Amid a rushing mountain stream
A giant boulder stands.
Bright gems of mica o'er it gleam,
And on its breast I love to dream
With mosses in my hands.
The hours flow softly o'er my soul,
More light and swift than foam;
And while the ceaseless torrents roll,
Wild fancies rise from stream and knoll,
And elfin through my vision roam.
They are so fair, and yet so fleet,
I cannot hold their garments fine.
They fade while yet I cry, "Stay, Sweet!"
A farewell glance is all I meet -
An archly murmured, "Not yet thine!"

I love the interesting shapes, textures and colours of the solitary rocks and even more the mossy overgrown boulders. The water droplets on the grass in the images above and below are like the icing on the cake.

They are like huge cliffs above the raging sea or small rocky islands surrounded by white sea spray.

So, that was it for today's post - just one last thing: If I'm not completely wrong, this below was the rock, the huge gold nugget that I mentioned in the beginning, that started my passion for rocks in the water.

I also like rocks and stones, sometimes I like to take a stone home from my walk ... and find a place for it in the garden ...π

You do have a really good eye for long exposure photography. That last photo is really quite breathtaking.
I was down in this little gorge and this rock shone golden in the middle of the river, it was amazing π

I always get confused with rocks and boulders too Hannes! Love your 2 photos with the green moss and grass as well as your final shot. All so cleverly taken, I am always enamoured of your photography skills.

I love long exposures too and even more such intimate scenes. All big waterfalls have been photographed by everyone, but there are so many rocks and boulders which still need to be photographed π

Golden reflection of boulders in early morning light delightful, moss and plant covered with gentle drops of water more so giving real feel of the flow moving through.
Lifeblood and veins we all desire to see when gently maneuvering through quiet mountain streams.

A pleasure seeing the environment and brilliant photography, another windy exceptionally wet day here, hope no more flooding.

We have had a rainy night, but it's warm again at 22 C. And it's very windy too, but here in Lower Austria it's always windy.
We are staying at our niece's house that is in a small village outside of the town and right behind the house there are farm fields - much, much better than the city life π
Hopefully your weather turns better and you don't get floodings again.

This is a gorgeous photograph, red flower pops out in the green fields.
Your niece lives in a beautiful spot outside of the city. Seeing fields reminds me of the happy cows you have there, possibly a delicious cheese fondue night together.
Thank you so much π I have seen it on the small monitor only, but I thought it would be quite nice. This was the only poppy flower in the whole wide field.
It's nice there, but no mountains. The hills are beautiful though, but after a week or so I miss the mountains a lot. I don't need to climb on them, just to see them would be enough π
Oh yes, the cows must be really happy. Already back home, but maybe next time we'll spend mor time together π

Very capturing photograph, rolling fields make you miss the tall peaks, absence makes the heart grow fonder they say.
