I saw some damaging activities by pest on my groundnut farm and the damage is truly painful and shocking,I was prevented from cultivating the land right next to my farm due to some reasons or the other .

We normally take the farm lands on lease for a year or two pending when the owner of the land will need it for whatever construction that they want to do on the land.taking the land on lease from them means that the land is kept clean every year by the farming activities we do on the land yearly.

This particular land beside my farm was put off lease by the owner and the land has bushy all year, farming activities on farms around that land has been challenging because of pest activities on surrounding farms caused by the bush on that land that has turned into hideouts for pest .

The groundnut that I farmed for this year was worst hit by this pest with close to half of the groundnut damage by the pest, groundnut around the edges of the farm have been eaten by this pest and those in the middle of the farm where touched to an extent, what made it worst was that it took me too long to notice it and by the time I did the damages was already much.

Rabbits have turned that part of the bush as places where they hide and even when I went to check the bush I found some groundnuts buried in the ground by this pest.The way they eat this groundnut can sometimes be so shocking that you begin to wonder if it was a human being that was eating them cause some of the groundnut pods are so properly opened that you will doubt that this was done by this pest unless you see them with your eyes.

But am still grateful that I can at least get something from the farm and I can prepare to make sure that something like that doesn't happen in the year to come so the next year will be better than the last that has to be the goal.
