Farm work is a year long process and I as much as am trying to rest for now there is still one or two things that I have to do on the farm, yam farms in Nigeria is cultivated during the dry season and the timing is the best is I am to get anything from my farm. Most farmers around me are currently cultivating their yam heaps and some have already started planting, different cultures have different ways of cultivating their yam farms some use the normal maize ridge while others make heaps of sands that is so high before planting the yam seeds in them . People from my part of Nigeria in benue state Nigeria prefer making this type of ridges.

Although I made most of the ridges that I used to cultivate most of my crop on my own I find it difficult to make yam heaps myself because of how hard it tends to be so I just hire so people and then pay them for it depending on the number of heaps they make per day, there is an actual price placed on each heap that they make and when they are done we can always just count the number of heaps they've made and then pay them using such metric .

It doesn't cost much actually so I can afford to do that year in year out without the expenses weighing me down, the most difficult part of planting yam for me is getting the seeds that I will plant in those ridges because of how expensive and less available it is , sometimes we have to wait for sometime to get them.
