Un saludo para los amigos de la comunidad @geekzone, esta es la primera vez que publico con ustedes. Mi nombre es José Manzano y desde hace varios años trabajo como administrador de red.

Hoy quiero presentarles el unboxing de un televisor que compré hace unos días para que mis niños puedan disfrutar con la calidad requerida de sus dibujos animados. De paso y teniendo en cuenta la cercanía de mundial de fútbol, aprovecho y veo mis juegos también 😀.

Today I want to present you the unboxing of a TV I bought a few days ago so that my children can enjoy their cartoons with the required quality. By the way and taking into account the proximity of the soccer world cup, I take the opportunity to watch my games as well.

Un poco de historia / History

Yo en la casa tenía dos televisores, un Daewoo de tecnología LCD y con una pantalla de 32 pulgadas, comprado hace ya algunos años y otro de una tecnología un poco más vieja (acá en Cuba le decimos culones) marca SAMSUNG de 21 pulgada. Pues resulta que el primero se me rompió de manera irreversible. Ya venía presentando problemas con la pantalla y en su momento la reparación me costaba mucho más de lo que me costó originalmente el equipo. No quedó otro remedio que darle un mayor uso al viejo televisor SAMSUNG, el cual se ha portado como un guerrero durante todos estos años.

I had two televisions at home, a Daewoo LCD technology and with a 32-inch screen, bought a few years ago and another one of a slightly older technology (here in Cuba we call it "culones") SAMSUNG brand of 21 inches. It turns out that the first one broke irreversibly. It was already having problems with the screen and at the time the repair cost me much more than the original cost of the equipment. There was no choice but to give more use to the old SAMSUNG TV, which has behaved like a warrior during all these years.

Con un solo televisor ya la situación se estaba poniendo un poco difícil. Por un lado, mi niña que disfrutaba de sus dibujos animados para edades temprana. Por el otro, mi hijo con sus series y animes dando bateo. Tambien mi esposa con las novelas y yo con grandes posibilidades de perderme el mundial.

Fue así que aprovechando que pude cambiar unos dólares que tenía guardados por euros (esta es otra historia que no viene al caso enredarse en ella) fue posible disponer de la capacidad de compra necesaria para adquirir este nuevo equipo.

With only one TV, the situation was getting a little difficult. On one side, my little girl enjoying her cartoons for early ages. On the other, my son with his series and anime. Also my wife with her soap operas and me with a good chance of missing the World Cup.

So, taking advantage of the fact that I was able to change some dollars for euros (this is another story that is not necessary to get tangled in it) I was able to have the necessary purchasing power to acquire this new equipment.

Pues vamos a entrar en materia, el equipo en cuestión es un televisor LED de 43 pulgadas marca TCL, modelo 43D30A. Su voltaje de trabajo barre un rango de 100 a 240 Volt, con una frecuencia de 50/60 MHz. El peso neto y bruto es de 7 y 9 Kg respectivamente. En cuanto a las dimensiones estas son de 1145 mm de largo, 133 mm de ancho y 665 mm de altura. Un poco más y tengo que comprar un mueble nuevo para la sala.

Este es un televisor de los llamados Híbridos, esto quiere decir que es capaz de trabajar con la frecuencia de las transmisiones analógicas y las digitales. En estos momentos en Cuba se está llevando a cabo la transición hacia a televisión digital. La norma que se utiliza es la DTMB desarrollada en la Republica Popular China.

Como pueden ver en las siguientes fotografías, el empaque es una caja de cartón con los elementos necesarios para la protección del equipo. En su interior encontramos el equipo en cuestión, su control remoto, los manuales de usuario en Ingles y Español y las patas de soporte.

Well, let's get down to business, the equipment in question is a 43-inch LED TV TCL brand, model 43D30A. Its working voltage ranges from 100 to 240 Volt, with a frequency of 50/60 MHz. The net and gross weight is 7 and 9 kg respectively. As for the dimensions these are 1145 mm long, 133 mm wide and 665 mm high. A little more and I have to buy a new piece of furniture for the living room.

This is a so-called Hybrid TV, which means that it is able to work with the frequency of analog and digital transmissions. At this moment in Cuba is being made the transition to digital television. The standard used is the DTMB developed in the People's Republic of China.

As you can see in the following pictures, the packaging is a cardboard box with the necessary elements for the protection of the equipment. Inside we find the equipment in question, its remote control, the user manuals in English and Spanish and the support base.

La extracción del equipo se realizó por mi parte con mucho cuidado, siguiendo las instrucciones del Manual de Usuario. Posteriormente lo coloqué sobre una superficie blanda para proceder a la colocación de las patas que lo van a soportar sobre el mueble. Una vez terminada esta acción procedí a ubicarlo en su lugar final para el disfrute de todos los miembros de la familia.

I extracted the equipment very carefully, following the instructions in the User's Manual. Then I placed it on a soft surface to proceed with the placement of the base that will support it on the furniture. Once this action was finished, I proceeded to place it in its final location for the enjoyment of all the members of the family.

Ya conectado el equipo a la toma de la electricidad, con la antena exterior puesta y presionado el botón Power del control remoto, seleccioné en el menú la opción de búsqueda automática. En este proceso, que resulto un poco largo, primero busca los canales analógicos y después los canales digitales.

Al principio tuve problemas ya que no me había dado cuenta de que él toma de la antena tenía problemas. Cuando lo reparé pude detectar todos los canales digitales sin problemas.

Once the equipment was connected to the power socket, with the external antenna in place and the Power button on the remote control pressed, I selected the automatic search option in the menu. In this process, which turned out to be a bit long, it first searches for analog channels and then for digital channels.

At the beginning I had problems because I didn't know that the antenna socket had problems. When I repaired it I was able to detect all the digital channels without problems.

Opciones del televisor. / TV set options.

Vale aclarar que este no es un televisor de gran complejidad tecnológica. Su resolución máxima es de 1920 x 1080i. No es un Smart TV ni 4K por lo que estoy valorando cuando me sea posible la compra de un Androide TV BOX para aumentar las prestaciones del equipo y una barra de sonido.

Ahora veamos las diferentes opciones del televisor. Presionando en el mando el botón de Menú podemos acceder a ellas.

It is worth mentioning that this is not a TV of great technological complexity. Its maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080i. It is not a Smart TV or 4K so I am evaluating when it is possible for me to buy an Android TV BOX to increase the performance of the equipment and a sound bar.

Now let's look at the different options of the TV. Pressing the Menu button on the remote control we can access them.

Canal / Channel

Esta nos permite realizar la búsqueda automática de los diferentes canales, ya sean analógicos o digitales. También podemos realizarla de forma manual para un canal en especifico. Podemos editar cuales son nuestros canales favoritos para acceder a ellos mucho mas rápido.

Otra de las opciones nos permite conocer la calidad e intensidad de la señal,mediante la visualización de una barra con los valores para cada uno de estos parámetros. En cuanto a la radiodifusión de datos, esto tiene que ver con un grupo de información extra que acompaña a la señal, por ejemplo información actualizada del tiempo, fechas importantes, tasa de cambio , etc. La realidad es que no funcionó.

This allows us to perform an automatic search of the different channels, whether analog or digital. We can also do it manually for a specific channel. We can edit which are our favorite channels to access them much faster.

Another option allows us to know the quality and strength of the signal, by displaying a bar with the values for each of these parameters. As for the data broadcasting, this has to do with a group of extra information that accompanies the signal, for example updated weather information, important dates, exchange rates, etc. The reality is that it did not work.

Imagen / Image

En esta área se configura todo lo relacionado con la calidad de la imagen. El modo de imagen que cuenta con varias configuraciones preestablecidas, la temperatura del color, la relación de aspecto y reducción de ruido.

In this area everything related to image quality is configured. The image mode which has several presets, color temperature, aspect ratio and noise reduction.

Sonido / Sound

Aquí se configura todo lo relacionado con los diferentes parámetro del sonido del equipo. Cuenta con varios modos predeterminado, donde se varían los valores de los parámetros bajo y agudo. También se configura el balance, se activa o no el modo de volumen automático y el de sonido envolvente.

Here you configure everything related to the different parameters of the sound of the equipment. There are several default modes, where you can vary the values of the bass and treble parameters. You can also configure the balance, activate or not the automatic volume mode and the surround sound mode.

Hora / Time

Abarca a todo lo relacionado con la configuración del reloj interno del equipo. Nos permite definir la zona horaria de donde esta ubicado el equipo, configurar si es horario de verano y el apagado programado (no confundir con apagones programados ).

It covers everything related to the configuration of the internal clock of the equipment. It allows us to define the time zone where the equipment is located, configure if it is daylight saving time and the programmed shutdown.

Ajustes / Settings

Este apartado tiene que ver con la configuración de un grupo de aspectos propios del equipo. Entre ellos el ajuste del idioma, close caption, restauración y actualización del software. También la configuración del sistema de fichero PVR (Personal Video Recorder), utilizado para grabar el contenido que se transmite al televisor de forma interactiva.

Reproducción multimedia / Multimedia playback

Otra de de las posibilidades del televisor es la de reproducir contenido multimedia desde una memoria USB o un disco duro externo. Este equipo permite la reproducción de una gran variedad de formatos de ficheros de imágenes, sonido, video y texto.

Por el momento prefiero no utilizar esta opción ya que los problemas con el anterior televisor empezaron con una memoria corrupta colocada en el puerto USB. Para ver contenido multimedia estoy utilizando una laptop con puerto HDMI y desde ella vemos las series y películas.

For the moment I prefer not to use this option as the problems with the previous TV started with a corrupted memory stick placed in the USB port. To watch multimedia content I am using a laptop with HDMI port and from it we watch series and movies.

El televisor cuenta con varias fuentes de entrada de señales de video y audio. Se encuentran ubicadas en un lateral de la parte de atrás.

• 1 puerto SPDIF para la transmisión de sonido digital.
• 2 puertos HDMI para la reproducción de video en alta definición.
• 1 puerto de video compuesto para conectar un equipo como un DVD.

Aspectos a favor y en contra / Pros and cons

Entre los aspectos a favor del televisor valoro los siguientes:

• Garantía de dos años ante defecto de fábrica.
• Pantalla ideal para las dimensiones de mi apartamento.
• Calidad de la imagen en alta definición y potencia del sonido.
• Opciones de manejo muy sencillas y fáciles de aprender.
• Tiene incorporado en su interior los componentes para la recepción de la señal digital utilizada en Cuba. Esto mejora la calidad de la señal con respecto a las cajas decodificadoras externas.
• Facilidad de cambiar para la señal analógica en caso de fallar la señal digital.

Entre los aspectos negativos encontramos:

• Su precio en el mercado cubano es excesivo para las prestaciones de este equipo. Con menos dinero en el mercado internacional se consigue un Smart TV con resolución 4K y mayor tamaño de pantalla.
• Algunas funciones como la guía de TV no procesan correctamente la información emitida por los centros transmisores.
• No puede abrir los servicios incorporados en la transmisión.
• Algo lento el escaneo de los canales, obligatorio barrer primero los analógicos y después os digítale.
• Control remoto muy grande, un poco incomodo para manipularlo con una sola mano.

Among the aspects in favor of the TV I value the following:

Among the negative aspects we find:

• Its price in the Cuban market is excessive for the performance of this equipment. With less money in the international market you can get a Smart TV with 4K resolution and larger screen size.
• Some functions such as the TV guide do not correctly process the information emitted by the transmitter centers.
• Can not open the services incorporated in the transmission.
• Somewhat slow scanning of channels, mandatory to sweep first the analog ones and then digitize you.
• Very large remote control, a little uncomfortable to manipulate with one hand.

Consideraciones finales. / Final considerations.

Lo mas importante es que en la casa todos están muy contentos con el nuevo televisor. Mi hija quedo asombrada cuando vio los dibujos animados a un tamaño descomunal. Mi hijo Michel enseguida inventando para conectar la laptop y ponerse a ver videos en Youtube y jugar Minecraft (también me dijo que falta comprar un Play Station 5 🤑). Mi esposa supercontenta, es fanatica a las novelas y series. Yo también muy feliz, al fin voy a ver por TV un Mundial de Football como dios manda.

Al final, ya nadie quiere utilizar al viejo guerreo e imbatible TV de 21 pulgada y pantalla de tubos catódicos SAMSUNG. Pero está ahí, firme para sacarnos de cualquier apuro. Muchas gracias.

My son Michel immediately invented to connect the laptop to watch videos on Youtube and play Minecraft (he also told me that he still needs to buy a Play Station 5 🤑).
