arTherapy: Stickers, Calligraphy and Stationery Stuff Make Me the Happiest

(Edited)

Happy Tuesday, hivers! I hope everyone is doing well. For today's post, allow me to share something I've been obsessing with the past few months. As I've shared with you in my Introduction post, I am into calligraphy since 2017. It's something I practiced along with my journaling. I kept a diary since my senior year in high school and I moved from a diary to a journal when I graduated college. I've been devoted to keeping a journal since then. Every year I always make sure I have a journal I can write and doodle on.

During the pandemic last year 2020, writing has such a huge role in my coping mechanism to stay sane during the worldwide fear of the virus alongside the lockdowns and several quarantines we had experienced. Writing became a part of my routine, along with reading, watching Netflix, doing yoga and physical exercises. Along with my journaling journey, I bumped into the magical world of stationery and stickers. In fact, I followed several inspirations on Instagram. I was planning to purchase some stationery stuff after my birthday, as a gift to myself. BUT...

Last June 2021 during my birthday, I received a present that literally blew my mind and figuratively expanded my heart, to say the least. My sister-in-law @krystalogue gave me such an oh-my-gosh-I-LOVE-THIS-SO-MUCH gift!! My eyes went all hearty-heart when I opened the gift box--SO MANY stickers and GORGEOUS stationery stuff set!! I WAS TOO HAPPY. I have been planning to buy some but the Universe gave me some instead! To say that I was excited to use them in my journal is an understatement. This is also a special shoutout to Ate Tala for this precious gift I'd forever treasure @krystalogue 😘 THANK YOU SO MUCH for these!💓

The girl-who-loves-stationery-thingz in me is beyond giddy and happy seeing all of these! The gift contained calligraphy pens, photo cards, deco stickers, little hoomans deco stickers, stamps, a travel notebook, and a stickers book. 💛
By the way, there were way too many stickers so I had to take some photos with them in different themes, as you can see below.

My journal concept for August was Summer in August so the colour I had was yellow. 💛 For me, this colour also symbolizes the hope for a better future. ✨

For September, it was Super September and what better colour to match super than red, right? It's also the month that marks Christmas in the Philippines so that's why I chose red. ❤️

Paperdolls in stickers?! Like, c'mon, it's a childhood dream come true😅😍💜

The Book Club stamps are too cute🖤

As of this writing, I am much preoccupied with making spreads and using lots of stickers, photo cards, vintage pictures from old magazines, deco washi tapes, and more. I'd be sharing that in the next arTherapy blogpost, so please stay tuned, dear Hivers. 😘

Growing up, I have always believed that art is for people who are born artists, you know. It was when I read a life-changing article in 2017 (I'm sorry I forgot the title; also this was the time I had so much time reading books and e-articles) this hit me hard: "you do not have to be an artist to make art", or so along those lines, if I remembered it correctly. That has encouraged me to practice calligraphy, and I was glad that some of my workmates and friends liked my gift cards with my handwriting on them.

My whole life I thought I could never be an artsy person just because I was not born left-handed or I was never the girl who is seen as "artsy". But then I realized that everyone can actually make art and be an artist. All of us have the capacity to make art. Sometimes, we don't know it just yet. Until we do. And that changes everything. So you, my friend reading this, are already an artist.

On one hand, from my perspective, all of us are ACTUALLY artists in our own ways, you know, we are actors in the biggest theatre called life. Let's just agree to disagree on that, shall we?

How about you, dear reader? Do you also love stationery stuff? What kind of arts are you into? AND ALSO: What were the things that kept you busy last year during the lockdowns? I'd love to hear your thoughts about it!💕

‘Til the next post, hivers! Remember that you are loved beyond borders and beyond time & space. Okay? Okay. 💛❤️

Ciao for now! 🤗🥰

ooh I've always wanted for PH to have a Thanksgiving holiday... But if I were to decide what would be its equivalent, I guess I'd say it's Christmas. Filipinos usually take Pasko seriously and we'd celebrate a feast and give out presents to each other, and we'd all feel pretty thankful during Christmas, you know

Happy Thanksgiving to you, @chinito , enjoy!😊
