July Garden Update

image.png

Hey fellow garden nerds! Now we are close to the middle of July, and I see so many of your gardens full of lush beautiful plants. Truly there are so many talented people here on the Block Chain, which lets be honest you have to have some of it to really be successful here. Take for instance a great Instagram post, then imagine it here on Hive. Doesn't really hit the same, does it? Please don't take this as bragging, I am really envious of a lot of the gardens I see here! But I am still proud of what I am doing, because it brings me joy, and I have lot's of fun. :)

It has been 23 day's since the last update, and I still have yet to finish filling up the whole garden. However I am working on it. Hence the title of my intro pic. I have lots of starts in SOLO cups, and will soon put most in the garden.

I have some Glass Corn, a few more Onions, and some Carrots. I also have some Sunflowers, but those will go on the side of the property like I did last year. The only difference is I plan to do more.

I have had the hardest time to Germinate the Sunflower Seeds. SO I tried putting them in the Compost, and see if that would help. And it really did! I am pulling out Sunflower seedlings every day!

You can see the Pumpkins, and Yellow Watermelon are starting to take off. Except the Yellow Watermelon is growing a bit slow, as well as the Jack-O-Lantern next to it. It could be the Sun shines a little less on that part of the garden, or maybe the soil is a little shitty compared to the other side. Because the Big Max, and the other Jack-O-Lantern in the middle are loving life!

It is nice seeing all the fruit start to form. But it also reminds me I am lagging on getting more plants in the garden! But I do have a longer growing season then many of you, but there is still a time frame. I tried to do the year round growing, and it just did not work out. I would say I have towards the end of November to finish. So I will most likely get something from the local Nursery.

My Onions are still not doing very well, but there going. I suspect the soil is just not to there liking. I added some Top Dressing the other day, and hopefully that helps.

Then the Garlic that was gifted to me by @anewyorkminute79 will be ready to harvest soon. Lets hope there are some nice bulbs underneath that dirt!

One thing that I am really proud of, and something that really came to fruition is the flower bed outlying the garden. It is probably one reason why the plot is so bare, since I put a lot of effort into the flowers, lol. Only kidding, because that is a piss poor excuse if that is really the case.

As you can see the flowers are doing their job attracting some beneficial bugs. Here in the next couple weeks after I get back from a family vacation I will head on over to the Nursery. I also will put my starts that are in the SOLOS in the ground as well. So by the time comes for the next update I will have more to show you. What would you put in if you where me? I would be very interested to hear your inputs. Fell free to comment. Or if you have any tips, all constructive criticism is welcome too. Well that's all I have for today. In the meantime happy growing!

Your to kind bro! LOL. Thanks, I really do put like putting in the work. My only weak spot is actually spending $$, which is probably would be best to really get things ideal. But I am just using what I have. However I will have more compost ready soon, which will help even more.

It is growing! Love seeing those little sprouts and the watermelon. I tried those this year and they were doing great but then suddenly died. Probably trampled by the dog.

I absolutely love the border of flowers too. What a great idea. I may have to cut back my grass from the boxes and line them with flowers next year!

Appreciate it! The flower seed was a wild flower mix. The first seeding didnt go well, but the 2nd we had a good rain, and they came in nice.

Looks amazing man! I always say the same thing with the garlic. It is a nice surprise when you finally pull them and see a beautiful big bulb of garlic! Love the flowers in the mix as well! Great job bro!

I was hoping to bring some to my mom when I visit her, but did not realize I had to dry them for a couple weeks. You think it would be safe to pull some now, and just let her dry them?

Unless you just took that picture of them then I would say wait a bit if you can. Or just pull some dirt away from the bulb and try to determine if it's a decent size to pull.
