From the Playa municipality in the capital of Cuba, what I like the most are not its residential neighborhoods, nor its modern hotels, nor the Fifth Avenue along which the bourgeoisie of another era built their great mansions and palaces. What I always enjoy in this area is the tranquility of its streets that extend under the shade of the large number of trees that are around, on the edges of the sidewalks, and as decoration even in the patios of the houses and in every corner. The green color is an indicator of good health and life in the city.

On this walk, in almost any place one can always see some vegetation, trees, royal palms, avenues and parks with gardens. The green color is present so that we do not forget that we are part of our environment and of the nature that surrounds and sustains us.

That is why I walked around calmly. I was accompanied by my little girl who, like me, gets excited with quiet walks and enjoys observing every detail, the small flowers in the gardens, the butterflies and the birds that fly looking for shelter.

Here in the Playa municipality is the ecological park, it is a large natural extension where several species of trees have been planted and a site where birds find a safe refuge and a space to nest. It is a great green space that refreshes the area and that has several recreational options and cafeterias so that people can have a quiet moment under the shelter of greenery and pure air.

Also on 70th Avenue, one of the busiest, there is a wide central promenade where one can walk calmly and without danger. It is also protected by the shade of the trees planted along its path, that is why several people are always seen here who come to cool off from the heat of the day, and sit on the benches around to talk and spend a quiet moment.

In the surroundings there are houses and very modern buildings that provide a renewed air. Several hotels also rise, since the area closest to Fifth Avenue is a tourist place and very crowded due to its proximity to the Miramar Business Center, the 70 supermarket and the Seaside Promenade where the avenue ends.

Although the sun was already almost at its highest point and the heat was strongly felt, the shade of the vegetation and the breeze accompanied us all the way. The walk took us through a space where the modern of the city mixed with the freshness and beauty of the natural. It was a perfect time to stop and enjoy.

Del municipio Playa en la Capital de Cuba lo que más me gusta no son sus barrios residenciales, ni sus hoteles modernos, ni la Quinta Avenida al margen de la cual construyó la burguesía de otra época sus grandes mansiones y palacetes. Lo que siempre disfruto de esta zona es la tranquilidad de sus calles que se extienden bajo la sombra de la gran cantidad de árboles que hay en los alrededores, en los bordes de las aceras, y como decoracion hasta en los patios de las casas y en cada rincón. El color verde es un indicador de la buena salud y la vida en la ciudad.

En este recorrido en casi cualquier lugar se puede ver siempre algo de vegetación, árboles, palmas reales, avenidas y parques con jardines. El color verde está presente para que no olvidemos que somos parte de nuestro entorno y de la naturaleza que nos rodea y nos sostiene.

Es por eso que recorrí los alrededores con calma. Estaba acompañada de mi niña que como yo se entusiasma con los paseos tranquilos y disfruta de observar cada detalle, las flores pequeñas en los jardines, las mariposas y las aves que vuelan buscando refugio.

Aquí en el municipio Playa está el parque ecológico, es una gran extensión natural donde se han sembrado varias especies de árboles y un sitio donde las aves encuentran un refugio seguro y un espacio para anidar. Es un gran espacio verde que refresca la zona y que tiene varias opciones recreativas y cafeterias para que las personas tengan un momento tranquilo al amparo del verdor y el aire puro.

También en la avenida 70, una de las mas transitadas, se encuentra un amplio paseo central donde se puede caminar con calma y sin peligro. Está también protegido por la sombra de los árboles sembrados a lo largo de su recorrido, es por eso que siempre se ven aquí varias personas que vienen a refrescarse del calor del día, y se sientan en los bancos de los alrededores a conversar y a pasar un momento tranquilo.

En los alrededores hay casas y edificaciones muy modernas que brindan un aire renovado. También se levantan varios hoteles, ya que el área más cercana a la 5ta Avenida es un lugar turístico y muy concurrido por la cercanía que tiene al Centro de Negocios de Miramar, al supermercado de 70 y al Paseo Marítimo donde termina la avenida.

Aunque el sol ya estaba casi en su punto más alto y el calor se hacía sentir con fuerza, la sombra de la vegetación y la brisa nos acompañaron todo el camino. El recorrido nos llevó por un espacio donde lo moderno de la ciudad se mezclaba con la frescura y la belleza de lo natural. Fue un tiempo perfecto para detenerse y disfrutar.
