4.5 billion years ago when the solar system was forming and everything was in chaos, scientists proposed a theory called the big impact, at that time there were many more problems, because there were many more planets than there are now, all of them going around Around the sun and looking for a stable orbit in which to survive, near the earth was a world the size of Mars that scientists have named Theia.
That world, if it existed now, would have temperatures similar to those of the earth, we do not know if with the size of Mars it would have been able to maintain a dense atmosphere, although we do know that Mars had it for quite some time, but if Theia had survived and had retained a dense enough atmosphere because surely now it would be a world with rivers, lakes and seas on its surface.
It would be a world very similar to ours, although smaller, but Theia's destiny never came, in Earth's orbit there was only room for a planet, and Theia and the earth ended up colliding and the remains that were expelled from the great impact were the ones that ended up forming the moon, that is the great impact theory, which explains the birth of our natural satellite and some characteristics of the earth, such as its high density or its fairly large core.
One thing must be taken into account, the earth is the densest planet in the solar system, it is a tad denser even than mercury, but like any other theory it needs evidence to prove it, as researchers from ETH Zurich
in switzerland they have discovered what they have described as the first definitive proof that the moon inherited noble gases indigenous to the earth's mantle.
In the discovery it qualifies as very important because it is one of the pieces of the many pieces to be able to understand this puzzle of how the moon was formed and also how the earth and other celestial bodies in the solar system were formed, since as I say in the Early in the formation of the solar system there were many planets and protoplanets.
The collision between them was inevitable, and they melted until there were those that survived and those we know now, although it is believed that, for example, Seres, which is almost a thousand kilometers in diameter, is the last proto planet of that time.
To reach this discovery, meteorites found in Antarctica have been analyzed by NASA explorers and their chemical signatures have been analyzed, reaching the conclusion that these meteorites are remains of magma that erupted from the interior of the moon and that time later They were thrown into space by an asteroid impact.
The moon has six times less gravity than the earth, so it is very easy for something to be fired into space on the moon than on earth, because those rocks that were fired ended up falling on the earth and specifically it is on Antarctica , which is much easier to locate when arriving is complicated in Antarctica, moving around Antarctica is complicated but finding a black rock in the middle of a lot of white ice is easier than, for example, finding it in the middle of a jungle.
When analyzing these meteorites, they have specifically discovered noble gases in a proportion similar to that found on earth and also other chemical signatures, with which these researchers have concluded that the moon inherited the noble gases from the earth's crust; In other words, that the moon was formed largely thanks to the surface, the crust torn from the earth due to the great impact.

I had no idea about this theory, I found it interesting.
Thinking about the creation of the universe always gives me a feeling that we are enormously lucky to be here.
