The vehicle that will travel to the Moon

The vehicle that will travel to the Moon

A few days ago we saw a test of the Starship, it still has a long way to go to be the space vehicle it promises to be, but as soon as it's ready, one of its first objectives will be to reach the moon.

And when lunar explorers get there, they're going to need vehicles to get around the lunar soil, and one of those vehicles could be the Venturi Astrolab, Inc., a Californian company dedicated to space exploration, announced an agreement with Elon Musk's SpaceX aerospace company to transport the Rover to the Moon that they have created called Flex, an acronym for flexible logistics explorer.

The vehicle will travel inside the StarShip as part of an unmanned mission scheduled for mid-2026, Flex will be the largest and most capable vehicle ever to fly from the moon with a maximum combined rover and payload mass of more than two tons.

The Flex rover has almost three times the mass of its predecessor and is capable of moving at speeds of up to 24 kilometers per hour, the Rover will also be able to carry two astronauts who will operate it using the on-board panel, and can also be controlled remotely

The flex is built to meet NASA's requirements as a future lunar ground vehicle, so it can become the standard means of ground transportation for the long-term Artemis program, both for the moon and subsequent exploration of Mars.

Astrolab has already signed several agreements with customers to carry payloads on this mission, and the company expects to release details of those agreements in late spring.
