Saludos estimados amigos amantes de la NBA, tenía mucho tiempo sin escribir al respecto de este hermoso deporte pero ayer ocurrió un hecho que como fanatico me llena de esperanza al ver como mi equipo favorito de la liga, acaba de obtener el número uno del draft para este año, los San Antonio Spurs.

Como se llegó a este punto.

San Antonio es una de las franquicias que mayor consistencia ha tenido a lo largo de loa ultimos años, podria decirse que en lo ultimos 25 años no ha existido una franquicia con mejor desempeño en lo que ha temporada regular se refiere, y el playoffs tambien ya que la franquicia dirigida por el mítico entrenador Greg Popovic obtuvo una racha de 20 temporadas consecutivas logrando ingrear a la postemporada, y como cereza del pastel con 5 titulos en 6 finales en este periodo.

El equipo liderado por Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, y Tony Parker se aseguraron de llegar a siempre a buen puerto, y el relevo parecía inminente, pero abrupta salida del equipo de Kawhi Lenard, el llamado a ser la cara de la franquicia, por estaépocaha llevado a San antonio a llegar en los ultimos lugares durante tres temporadas consecutivas.

La debacle del equipo fue paulatina,pues bien si Lenard salió hubo jugadores de complemento que mantenian al equipo de forma competetitiva como Demar Derozan, o el jugador desarrollado por el equipo como Dejounte Murray pero que al final son grandes complementos sin llegar a ser estrellas totales en el firmamento de la NBA.

De alli a que la gerencia de San Antonio decidiera ir cambiando a sus mejores jugadores en busca de la recostrucción total, para ser un equipo realmente con posibilidades de lograr lo obtenido la noche de ayer, el primer número del draft y una posible estrella para guiar a la franquicia.

El hecho de tener el primer número del draft no garantiza el éxito, pues en la historia, muchos casos han existido que luego de tener esta posibilidad losequipos selecciónan al jugador equiovaco, bien sea por su tendencia a lesionarse o por mala evaluación de los scouts, sin embargo, San Antonio han sido notables en la selección de sus jugadores, logrando adquirir y mejorar a estrellas como Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Kawhi Lenard (adquirido desde Indiana Pacers en el Draft del 2014) y Dejounte Murray, además de seleccionar muy bien a sus jugadores del rol.

En este sentido los ultimos jugadores seleccionados por la franquicia en situaciones como esta han sido nada menos que David Robinson y TIm Duncan en quienes fueron dos de los mejores jugadores de la franquicia llevandola a a ser una de las más exitosas de la liga, ambos jugadores desarrollaron sus largas y fructiferas carreras en el equipo.

Wembayama a los Spurs

Hace algun tiempo escribi sobre este prospecto de origrn frances que esta destinado a romper con los paradigmas tradicionales de la NBA, pues no se ha visto una combinación de tamaño con agilidad de forma previa, pues con sus 2.21 metros es capaz de jugar al perimetro de una forma inigualable, además de tener a su corta edad una apreciable experiencia en el baloncesto profesional, así como en selecciones, hacen soñar a cualquier franquicia con tener sus servicios.

Si un equipo se hacaracterizado por ofrecer las mejores oportunidades a jugadores extranjeros,son los Spurs, pues muchos de los mejores jugadores europeos y latinoamericacnos han estado relacionados con la franquicia, por lo cual es un añadido a las posibilidades de acoplamiento del frances, por lo cual sería un destino ideal para este jugador que se prevee sea la bases para la construcción de cualquier equipo, justamente lo que los spurs necesitan de forma urgente.

Como fanatico de un equipo,el ver a la franquicia que identifica a uno jugar una temporada como esta, no es nada agradable, el ver que la posibilidad de lograr un talento tan impresionante como Wembayama pueda llegar a desarrollarse con un equipo tan disciplinado como San Antonio, es un aliciente, y la esperanzas para el proximo año debería ser muy postivas, ahora falta a esperar el draft y ver la evolución de los acontecimientos!
