Crypto & Life: Losing Yourself To Mind Games

It is just over 12 hours until the halving, and many people appear to be counting down as if BTC will magically increase from 64k to 150k after the halving. Of course, this is impossible, but we are all eager to get past it and move on. The way people are counting down indicates that many are tired of the market's sideways movement.

The Bear Market Has Lasted Too Long

Do Kwon and SBF, in particular, cut the last bull market short, resulting in more than two years of bloodshed. 2024 has been by far the most optimistic year, owing to the fact that we can now see glimpses of what may occur soon. However, waiting can be a frustrating experience. The average person is not designed to wait, which makes life seem meaningless to some extent.

People are designed to be in the thick of things, and unfortunately, no one is really prepared to wait; it breeds anxiety, fear, and uncertainty.

However, no one will fast-forward what will likely happen to the market in 12 months time. All of the countdowns will only heighten anxiety, so it is time to get busy. It will be the longest 12 months (I am estimating 12 months to when many coins will reach their peak performance), and unless you make good use of that time, you may waste it with endless waiting, speculation, permutations, and agitation.

You May Lose Yourself

However, this is easier said than done. I was talking with @thebighigg, and he mentioned how getting busy can help you cope with life's stress and misfortunes. This most likely includes temporary distractions and activities that simply occupy your time and give it additional meaning. Distractions do not work for me. Maybe it is because I have had too much trouble lately and can not seem to put my life back together.

The Last 7 Months Has Been Traumatic For Me

Perhaps it is the worry about my health and the stress of the complications. Living in denial about your current situation only means you will have to confront your problems; temporary happiness is as bad as sadness itself. It is as if people choose cigarettes and alcohol for short-term relief from life's difficulties, only to return to their worries once the effects of these substances have passed.

It is the same with me.

Distractions do not work for me because they only provide temporary relief, as the name implies. Most of the time, what we need for true distractions is determined by what we hope and wait for. Many people are waiting for Bitcoin to reach $150k so that they can truly establish their lives, and everything that happens before then is irrelevant. No one truly knows how to wait unless they have the necessary tools.

Many wealthy individuals are currently selecting coins that are undervalued in the market, investing in projects, and establishing their position. It only demonstrates the importance of having something solid to rely on while waiting for the storm to pass. With the current situation, BTC may still reach $55,000 before taking off.

Perhaps, maybe not.

Many people will bail out or sell off before that date. It is darkest before dawn, but sometimes the darkness makes us believe it will last forever and we will never see dawn.

Nonetheless, I advise you to find distractions and let the storms rage and calm. As I previously stated, it is easier said than done, and I will not judge you if you capitulate and completely lose yourself. No one can judge anyone at the moment, but I will still say, find a temporary fix for the market volatility and do your best to do what is best for you.

Honestly, I don’t know what will happen after the halving and in the months to come. I love to be optimistic so let me just hold on to what you have said and also hope that Hive reaches a new ATH since you said so many coin performances will be at their peak

Well there's no certainty to anything. There's a possibility that so many coin will surpass previously ATH. If the selling pressure on hive reduces we might reach or match it's ATH, if not, I'm not sure.

...and many people appear to be counting down as if BTC will magically increase from 64k to 150k after the halving.

Haha, I do have same thought as well but unfortunately it's not gonna happen overnight. It is going to take a couple of months.

Many people will bail out or sell off before that date. It is darkest before dawn, but sometimes the darkness makes us believe it will last forever and we will never see dawn.

Yeah, the darkness that seems to last forever always bring fear which makes some sell off their coins and later regret after the light comes so bright.

Unfortunately there might be more dips after the halving, we can't really tell how the war in Israel and the market will respond. However, I'm thinking the market will begin to positively react after a few months.
It's darkest before dawn and a lot of people are going to sell off. I can't blame them, some people thought we will see 150k quickly after the momentous leap to 74k

Couldn't agree more! Too bad your last seven months have been so rough...

I think those who ignore the smaller coins will be sorry, BTC may take off but to what level who really knows? Or it could tank below 55 for awhile before shooting up. It's really hard to predict!

It's really hard to predict anything at the moment. But it's good for everyone to psychology prepare for any type of dip. The bigger gain will actually be with the smaller coins I think it might just be too late to invest on BTC.

As for me, if I could turn back the hands of time I'll wish not to experience the last seven months of my life.

Of course it is a fact that it is not so easy to make profit in this market because when the profit is happening it becomes tempting and then it turns into loss. We have to work very carefully here and A year from now, this particular bitcoin event will see prices rise significantly.

You just need to stop paying attention to the price as much and I agree that keeping yourself busy is a good way to do so. I hope your life gets better soon and I know that the past 7 months has been rough for you. The market is a cycle so sometimes patience just pays off.

Everyone needs to stop paying attention to price, it's not something I'm doing but warning others not to actually do. Thank you for your kind words, Indeed it's been the toughest 7 months of my life.

I think it's always very hard to practice patience when the future looks uncertain. Although, we know that we can't control much of it we still try to tweak the plan with the hopes that this will make things better for us in the future. Sometimes, this could very well be the case. But I also think cultivating a bit of indifference during uncertain times can go a long way in helping us navigate through it, especially when we also have a long term perspective on things.

It's all mind games. I believe that if the mind can win games of uncertainty then it's possible that it'll reflect in one's actions and beliefs. Sometimes the mind holds one back from achieving even the capacity to be indifferent. It's hard.

Right, conquering the mind and keep it in check is the place to start, as this is where most of the time the source of our actions and behaviours stem from. I see it as a process we get better at the more uncertainty we're exposed to.
