No one talks about how severe Money depression is.

A lot of people are more depressed than they realize, but because we picture depression as a state of pain or evil, we tend to see it as a zone that is meant for some type of people in the society.
Being excessively conscious about life, being deeply aware, thinking about things that the average people don't, looking at life from a realistic rather than position point of view is a mild form of depression, that can actually graduate to something more severe.
Being aware is a proof of our consciousness, without that we can't think, deduce, reason or even come to any form of conclusions.
Without our consciousness we're nothing, sometimes people don't even pay deep attention to their consciousness, they're just living, breathing, working attending parties and functions without stopping to self reflect, indulge in women deep thinking and understand their realites differently.
The only time people do this is when they're stopped in their track by some tragic events in life, and they begin to think deeper.
Deep thinking & depression
A lot of deep thinkers are depressed, because they're applying or using their highest form of self awareness, applying it generally to life, but depression is always likened to a state of mental disorder and this is why people would rather not admit they're depressed, because of the stigma, stereotype and label that's attached to it. While in reality, depression is just a phase of sadness, only that it this time you're in that state of sadness for longer periods of time.
When people are broke for long, they're depressed, a person chronically sick is the same, and even someone who suffering the loss of a loved one. Pain varies in degree, and while people are expected to be sad today but already happy by tomorrow, reality is quite different.
A person can be sad for 90% of their lives more than they can be 90% happy all their lives, and this possible when people begin to think critically or deeply. In my opinion the reason why we have some nabr drinking houses and party center is because these places helps people ro escape deep thinking.
This is why a substance like alcohol (when taken in abundance) numbs the brain. It takes you away from a place of intentional things, you're unaware, living in a state of nothingness, feeling nothing but heaviness and a little sense of goodness.
Even without alcohol, most people who are regular lifers, vacationists or those setting out to simply enjoy their lives are always happy, and you will be surprised that some of these people may have money and other good things of life but they're still depressed or unhappy.
This is why businesses that are built to please people are psychological more than regular. A person eats to stay alive, so a restaurant is not one of such places, but a drinking place is one of such. This is why places of pressures has been in existence since the 15th century in different continents. These business are tailored to make people shallow thinkers even if it's for a brief period of time.
Although we don't originally need people to be happy when doing their jobs or being mentally alert, overly or excessively happy people can still perform optimally, but chronically sad people cannot. This is why man designed more places to make himself happy and less aware.
This is reality because, when people are unhappy they generally don't do the thing they love doing, they're withdrawn and are thinking deeply, these thoughts occupies their mind so much that they begin to lose focus, their mind is not as sharp, they cannot do their jobs properly, they're always lost in thoughts so much that they cannot have proper conversations anymore.
The money depression
Nowadays I can say the thing that makes people more depressed in this modern era is not having money. This is because the 21st century is tailored or optimized to be money driven.
In the 15 or 16th century it could be different things entirely and this will be equally different as the 10th century. I'm not saying depressed people can't be rich, of course, chronic depression that might not be clinically spelled might come from so many things, but imagine feeling pressure and ache from having no money no matter how hard you've tried.
Broke people are the most self aware, because they're constantly plugged in to the depth of their self awareness. If you're someone who thinks deeply, maybe more than anyone on their circle, then you might be depressed and you don't even know it.

Money is one of the greatest curses ever produced by mankind. But before that there was those who had the land, or all the food, or the water. When it comes right down to it human nature is that of greed which is a sad reality. Yes alcohol can help you escape depression by numbing you temporarily, but it never fixes the actual problem. For those chronically sick or poor sometimes they give up and fall into substance abuse to escape their reality.
Maybe as humans we should do more to ensure that fewer people have no opportunities to succeed. We can't control sickness and chronic pain, but maybe if we can create more hope for people economically the world could be a happier place. A pipe dream I know as human nature will allow it to happen...

With my chronic health condition I was begining to slip out of reality and my depression was more than chronic. The hospital bills were unbelievable, the things I needed to do with money was just so much and you need a perfect health to compete with people in life and because of this I think I agree. The way money is plugged in into our very essence and consciousness is really wicked and the way it's designed is even crazier
I don't think the people of this world wants to make life easier for people who are ill or cannot compete. Life just means that the people at the top keeps getting all the advantages and those that are not are left to hustle it out.

I think the biggest reason is how our economy is structured. We can pay for everything using money, and we can't get much done without money. Food, housing, and everything just rely on money. So when you lack money, you just realize how much you are missing.
Yeah, it just feels like the bulk of what we can realistically do in life depends on money and when you don't have it, then it actually becomes a really big issue
Depression comes from mentally spending too much time in the past. Anxiety comes from mentally spending too much time in the future. Being present is the only way one can become aware of their inner happiness to counter the drag of day-to-day life.
Having no money can certainly exasperate depression but mainly people who are broke are living with past regret. About how they squandered their opportunities, money and time on things which ultimately left them where they are now. The potential of "What if?" eats away at their souls as they live a mundane existence just to survive.
I agree, I didn't consider anxiety in the equation, but if we properly look at it as you've said, it's the fear of what's not yet come and the uncertainty of how it might turn out.
Past opportunities and the regret of not having more is real, you're right because for a long time, this has plagued me too. I think a lot of people live with it and some people even have it worse.
Thank you for that wonderful comment

Money is not the best gauge of happiness or success. It's convenient because it's a number that can be measured. But as you explain, it can also help you hide unhappiness with booze or through buying distractions.
I think this is where the practice of writing down things you are grateful for can bring life back into perspective. It helps put things in perspective. Even at your lowest, there is always something to be grateful for.
Things aren't going that well for me. But I have a home, my family, and the ability to make things better for myself. That's really all I need to not fall into despair. The rest is just procedural stuff, bullshit rules and policies that have to be done a certain way. The problems aren't me. They're problems, sure. But they're just like any other project, which can be broken down into parts and taken care of at the appropriate time, when money permits.
