Splinterlands: Reward, Money & Improvement

It's another splinterlands' end of the season Which I competed mostly in silver one, the modern format, and this time, I think the reward is just a little bit better than last season, even though I earned more SPS last season. Getting a gold level 3 pelacor mercenary was the highlight of the reward.

The reason is because money-wise, this might not be great, but I wouldn't pass on any opportunity to earn a gold card this is pretty much the first time I'm getting a gold card in my reward and the feeling has been Overly exciting. One of the reasons why I've not been bothered about having all the rewards in one go is that I'm building, and as one builds, the rewards don't just get better, it improves your opportunities for further Incentivization.

Value Begets Value

About two days ago, I remember selling some of my GLX token for about 22 hive with the hope that I could buy them back when the price eventually. Getting this GLX token was as a result of staking SPS, which I got from buying packs in December. It was difficult for me to gather and stake all that SPS and this is because it took weeks and months to accumulate.

So the smallest of rewards can be accumulated over time, and the product can be impactful, in-game, or the economic aspect. The beauty of developing in-game is that it creates more possibilities for one both in the present as well as futuristically too. Another thing is, there are splinterlands assets that will do well over time especially when there is a massive demand for them, the hope is to spot some of these assets and hold them.

Spotting out value, takes keen eyes on the market

Tactics & cards

I think building tactics around some particular cards are the modus operandi of some bots. You'll notice that there are cards that are indispensable in some particular strategy and if those cards are taken out the battle twists. This is how I know cards that might rise in value in the future. Why? Almost every investor in splinterlands is a stylish copycat. This is because some of the strategies we built are strategies of others that were made better and improvised.

This means that there are cards that are instrumental in almost every tactic and that's because they pack special abilities. Special abilities are expensive, this is because these abilities create a certain unfair advantage to people who hold them and this is because these abilities are used to win, hence the value of a card skyrockets when the special abilities are instrumental.

Screenshot_20221115154021_Chrome01.jpeg

Special abilities? On another level

Some cards are quite cheap and underrated at the moment and the only way to know they'll be valuable is to check some of the abilities they carry and the in-game utility they pack. One of these cards is gargoyle devil, a card that's quite underestimated and the abilities are relevant, however, I guess this is because of the number in circulation, and the fact that it's a reward card. Rarity and collection power are other ways to know a valuable card.

Sometimes people don't buy cards because they'll overly need them, they do so because it's rare or packed with collection Power. There's the struggle between finding the right balance sometimes. This means finding an affordable card with all the condiments. I mean if people were allowed to build their favorite cards while adding special abilities that already exist in the game, I think splinterlands will be quite exciting.

But, exciting, might be chaotic

Nevertheless, people buy the major things they want in some cards and the other features cannot be sold or exchanged for another feature. The downside to this is that people with a lot of money will take the game away from people with very little resources and this is how we keep the game in check.

There are people too with a fetish for buying gold cards as well, this is probably because of the antiquity and the fact that it retains more value, they're more limited and rarer hence, impossible to lose too much value overtime.

Not to deviate from the main reason for this Post, it's the splinterlands' end of the season and I keep learning and sharing some of this Knowledge, this is a way to get back value as well. Meaning that in the long run, investing in splinterlands makes sense because of so many factors and you can see the money bags, splashing hundreds of dollars to become kahunas at the top of the food chain and earn a huge chunk of the rewards. Even if I've not gotten anywhere per se, I'm hoping to be accumulating in cents, because I'm enjoying the in-game value and there's the prospect of futuristic value on the horizon.

Selling & buying Is pure bliss

So I decided to do another overhaul, selling off some cards and buying some relevant ones. Like it or not, streamlining your deck to achieve relevance is very important especially when you don't have a lot of money.

While strengthening some of my cards, it was nice to see some of the cards I upgraded, garnered some special abilities and I know a lot of people upgrades their deck after the end of the season. To slack is to lose traction and fall behind the pecking order. For now, I'm happy to keep accumulating, keep upgrading and keep finding creative ways to compete with the big bad wolves.

You seem to be a pro in this. I recently launched a game house/shop within my residential area and have been planning to incorporate some p2e components into it, and Splinterlands seems inviting so far to me. But I know almost nothing about it (I'm naturally not interested in any form of games, my game house was simply motivated by economics and partnering with an expert).

However, I'll really like to be enlightened on this, and what better way to learn than learning from the best? Though, you may not be the best per SE, but you've displayed evidence of proficiency, at least you should be able to give me a headstart.

I'll do some personal research, and if you're okay and disposed, I may drop a few questions here and there in Discord.

If you have some nice reasons for starters like I am, I'll also appreciate. Haven't been on the chain for sometime, setting up a business isn't easy, but we are progressing. I'll share a post on it soon as well

I'm not really a pro, I take my time to learn everyday, there are over a billion information to learn on splinterlands, one just learns on the go, according to effort and dedication

incorporate some p2e components into it

I don't know what you mean by this. But I'll transcribe it to you opening a realtime game business right?

Well learning is a personal development thing, but I could put you through some basic necessities, and you'll have to contact me on telegram, since it requires a lot of talking.

Haven't been on the chain for sometime, setting up a business isn't easy,

Eventually everyone gets to go through this route. I'm hoping to do so myself someday.

It is good that you are selling some cards for the needed ones for your deck, that way you are able to stay competitive on the battlefield.
Good luck with the new season bro, hopefully you get Epic or Legendary.

I upgraded some of my epic cards and so far I'm waiting for my ECR to recharge to begin battling with them. I'm hoping this season won't be as brutal as the last. They beat the hell out of me in the last.

I think it's a good idea to sell some cards that you don't use that often to get ones that you would prefer to. Splinterlands is competitive and it's tough without a developed deck. It's tough to really determine the prices for cards though.

Yeah, I wasn't doing this in the past until I decided to build a deck and this is actually coming in handy. Selling gives me more added funds to build the cards I want.

For now I just want to leave those cards there and rent them out, especially cards that has high renting value, selling too is not bad. It is a win-win something

Well selling gives me more money to be able to buy the cards that will be useful to me, so that's what I usually do.

Your Silver chests looks better than the Gold chests I receive. I finished with 45 Gold chests while playing in SIlver league and my rewards were ass.

You still receive GLX tokens every day though. Also, the APR is still quite high these days, so buying a bit from the market and just staking it might be the way to go now that the horde hasn't come in.

I bought like $48 worth of the token when it was dirt cheap and now I'm farming like $25 per day(Including airdrop) from my stake. It's like magic

Everything cumulatively is not even up to one dollar, but I reckon they weren't bad.
I think you're right, it's much of a gamble, choosing to sell and buy later or just choosing to buy and farm more. If for one, in the game of farming, it can be quite tricky but you're right. I'll check it out at the moment.

$48 of the token when it was cheap would have been really good and farming 25$ is astonishing. I think the yield is just something else.

The APR is insane because there are only few people farming the token now. I'm going to milk it and squeeze out as much profit as I can

Up to this date, I am having difficulty in deciding which one to keep and which one to sell in order to buy what I really need. I mean, I value all of them. 😁

Btw, good to see you playing under the Silver League. 🙂

I think having a strategy helps you pick which to sell and which to keep. I've been battling in silver for more than 6 months, the reality is that I only started competing in silver one about a three weeks ago. But it's go to sell and buy, I mean, not all that assets can retain value.

I actually have some reward cards here that I am not using. I've been thinking of selling them but it seems they don't cost much as of this time. 😊

Then you should think of actually selling them though.. no matter how small, use it to buy SPS, stake and get more SPS.

Just checked and burning some of my cards is almost the same as selling them for the amount of DEC that I would get. 😅
