Splinterlands: Tweaking My Assets For More Passive Income Next Season

It's been a very tough splinterlands season, everyone can relate. I've seen players making a comparison of how their loots looked like last season and just two days to the end of this current season and the difference is just towering.

It's been an absolute disaster majorly for players in silver II and III and this isn't just emphasizing the difficulties of the gameplay, it has been more of putting in extra effort and getting lower returns or rewards. It's natural, that the gameplay now seems difficult because of the poor outcome.

I know this because I earned about 40 loots, when the numbers of the loots for the end of the season were no longer dependent on the league, even if the quality of the rewards still does, and now, I can't even earn up to 10 loots per season. The difficulties have been more psychological rather than tactical.

Returns = Efforts?

This is to say that the returns haven't been proportional to the efforts. The focus rules have been completed shattered, this means you can earn focus loots when you play your focus elements and when you do not, this has made it difficult to track progress like how many loots you can aim for, by sticking to your Focus elements, the accountability and calculative factor is no longer there.

A lot of people have confirmed that it was the bot system that cake to an end for a while, meaning that more real players now had access to quality cards in the market, thereby increasing the competition.

However, if this was so, did this competition also stifle the returns, or was it that the reasons the bot system ended were because of the changes we had mid-season of last season? I think it was the latter because the former made no sense at all

Translating The Difficulties To The Financial Aspect

My theory is that the changes were to reduce the possibility of earning more rewards, but the only reason why the difficulties in the game were rather obvious is that players have to do more to earn less, so because the efforts aren't being replicated reward-wise, players how now resorted to pointing out an important factor to the bizarre output of this current season.

I do not want to dabble into the economics of the game, the proportionality of the rewards to the time taken. Instead, I'd like to think that the time taken acquired experiences that can be useful in the future.

However, we all live for Profiteering, hence it's always essential to take a different approach to maximize one's assets with the hope of making better returns. I'd like to think splinterlands has got it covered as most of the changes they're trying to make are for the greater good.

Nevertheless, I still think some of the tough calls, changes, and decisions are always going to affect people who have lesser skin in the game (pun intended) because to keep the game going, I feel some of these rules are meant to favor those with hundreds of dollars, it's the way it works because I'd like to call some of these people the apex investors sitting at the top of splinterlands' food chain.

Renting Out All My Cards...

I have decided to rent out some of my top cards and leave just enough of them to compete for fun rather than rewards. Now selling is out of the question because I know that different changes might just ensue especially if splinterlands INC decides to implement another change to counter this particular one.

The second reason why selling is out of option is that I've grown fond of the game over time. At the time of investing in December, I could have just thrown that money into HBD, but Splinterlands seemed like a new investing experience I should dabble into.

The third reason is that I want to see how my returns for renting would go through next season, then compare it to when I was using all the cards to play. It's all about tweaking and making changes when necessary, I hope it turns out well this time.

Most games are very addictive,it 6ske courage to stop when you start them.. In renting out card, what about in a situation where the person you rent your cards to loose the match, what happens to your card?

It's like the renting canopy and chairs for the sake of an event. If the groom refused to show up to the wedding, they'll still pay the person for the rentals, you get?

Idk what it was but this season was ROUGH! I only picked up about 1/3 the chests I did last season and haven't even been able to touch back into Diamond again. Super weird and wondering what changed. I've tried renting out my cards and it produces some income but it's pretty lackluster at the moment. Seems like a huge amount of cards at the moment and not enough players but I'm sure that will change.

I think it's pretty rough out there and with the analysis you've given it might even be difficult for you to rent out cards and get enough returns for them. At the moment, or at this situation, I think more players might stop playing since it isn't worth it. And if there aren't many players it might tank the game's value. splinterlands should do something about this, because it's a shit show at the moment.

Looking at your comment about competitiveness, and the comment by bitcoinflood below, I can tell you - it's the same in GOLD league. I am blown away by the difficulty of progress. Last season I think I ended up at around 3200 rating (was at least 3100, whether more or less, dunno) and this season, at this point, I'm at 2500. I can tell you, I won't be anywhere close to 3000 by the end of season. I thought it was a lot more bots playing this season, and the bot has improved significantly!

I think it's crazy, but the question is, even if it was the bots, did the ramage actually brought about a pitiable Outcome in the rewards? Someone else said it was the bots that took a break hence leaving the rental market with enough cards for other real players to take advantage of. It's absolutely crazy. But then, changes needs to be done.

Yea, look, who knows. I read the other day about a post where Level 1 Chaos cards in the rental market went sky high price (well, relative to where they should be) as mass bots auto-rent the same common cards. I'm not sure, but I've certainly had to put some extra time in finding some of my own cards to rent and have changed up some strategies. But, it's been an absolute slug!

have changed up some strategies

my approach as well, I have been alternating between both formats and for some reason it has been enabling me to accumulate chests though still extremely difficult battle-wise. I sold 3 of my cards I rarely used yesterday so I can work on other strategies by upgrading some cards.

Yea, I think you're onto the winner there. It seems like an upgraded deck is becoming more important, would certainly make a difference to win % I'd reckon.

I want to develop strong Taunt strategy in my Water battles, so I want to push WAVE BROOD to level 3, am just 3 copies short. I might have to upgrade SPIRIT HOARDER but ANGELIC MANDARIN can be of help with Triage ability.

I need change of summoner for Death, Earth, Fire since I don't have the funds I will be depending of flips.

Bro this game is in your blood hahaha, I surely can understand. I think at this juncture only a stronger strategy will help a person win well.

It's been an absolute slug like you've put it. I think the rental market is sort of aggrandizing at the moment. The control of the bots on it might be good for profit, especially with players putting out cards for rent, but I think we can say it comes with its own disadvantages.

Good luck with rentals bro, I do understand it's been a rough season, 7 chest a season is very demotivating. I started flipping cards yesterday so I can strengthen the ones need strengthening.

Well hahaha 7 is totally demotivating I'll not lie, but what can I do? I love the game with all my heart, I'm sad this is happening.

It's difficult but I do think that the new system does return a bit more DEC per fight won but it's way more common to lose now. It's also quite bad as my own rental income has dropped a lot and I don't think it will earn that much either.

I think the way the new system works varies from league to league, because I've been experiencing poor DEC outcome, while having difficulties with gathering loots. It's been a shot show
