The Psychology Of Limit, Obstacles & Possibilities (1)

IMG_3510-01.jpeg

As humans, we're entitled to the assumption of betterment, especially when it comes to the future. We consider the past as an ingredient that might influence the outlook of the present while believing that the future, irrespective of how unknown and unpredictable it is might be dependent on what we're able to accomplish in the present.

Sometimes, life is built on assumptions.

The believability that an outcome is possible even when we cannot prove it. It's just like saying, "I work hard, so I'm going to be rich someday". Our assumptions can be based on deductions, what we deem to be plausible, with or without considering external factors.

Our assumptions correlate with hope

When we cannot validate our assumptions, the next thing is to build our resolve around hope, with the faith that everything we've built, or are aiming to build will correspond with the right elements to better our lives.

However, it's important to back hope with proof of work. With hope, there needs to be evidence of hustle, a validation that we've played our part. This means that hope should come when we can no longer control the narrative. It is like preparing extremely well for a job interview, and hoping (emphasis on hope) that the outcome be favorable since we cannot control the 'outcome".

Even with the likelihood of success, failure is still possible.

Knowing this possibility might dissuade a person from even making any attempts. However, this is where the gift of hope comes in. It (hope) keeps us tethered to positivity, which is needed to embark on some of the most important journeys of life.

Hope is a gift that we're opportuned to tap into, as a necessary motivation and a driving force to keep striving in life. However, when hope becomes overly assumptive rather than solid or carries the substantiality of proof of work, then this can be very dangerous.

Testing Your Elasticity Limit

One of the reasons why it's important to not misplace hope is because when it is overly misplaced, it becomes difficult to have or believe in it, especially when it has been battered by a series of disappointments.

Sometimes, people become negative, not because it's their choice, but because it has become a coping mechanism. Being negative about a possible outcome seems like preparing the mind for uncertainty. People prefer to be negatively predictive, they see it as a way to be prepared for any outcome. However, the downside to this is that it kills the ability to see any positive outcome.

IMG_1021-1-03.jpeg

Following The Pattern Of Sentiment

When things are going sideways, people tend to follow that downtrend. This is what happens when one's ability to hope has taken a huge dent because of a series of failures and disappointments.

One of the things that helps people cope or battle bad situations, is the hope that it gets better. Without hope, it's difficult for people to scale through tough times. Sometimes, hope creates possibilities that might not be there. The mind is conditioned to believe what it perceives.

For example, a lot of people are working hard to become rich, and while there's nothing set in stone for them to achieve this, the belief they can achieve this sets structures and frameworks that might not be there in the first place.

The mind is where the magic happens

We envisage, things that aren't real, then begin to work on them to become real. Everything possible was imagined. Of course, obstacles prevent imaginations from becoming conceptual, however, there are no opportunities without obstacles.

The reason why we see opportunities present themselves is that there are people who already see these obstacles to these opportunities and decide not to pursue them. However, the way we're wired, trained, or established by default makes us see things differently, and from different perspectives too.

Losing hope can be easy but also hard. The fear of not succeeding at something is what makes us hopeful but then the fear of also not succeeding is what also makes us loose hope. As long as we have life we always tend to be hopeful no matter how pessimistic we may feel but then it would not end well if what we hope for fails to come.

I Sha kept seeing my name oo, lol 😂

Thanks for the summary. In essence, hope plays important roles in our lives that we cannot even being to underestimate. It's like a double-edged sword and it's one element of our life that we can not afford any dent on it. Pessimistic kills hope, I know it can be rational to maintain a balanced emotion, but sometimes, it's important to keep up the hope while sustaining it by making good decisions.

I Sha kept seeing my name oo, lol 😂

Hahaha maybe that's where I drew my inspiration from today, who knows 😃😃😃

I think it's because of my name but I do love giving hope to people in anyway I can because I think that's one easy way for me to be hopeful myself. I know how important having hope can push a person forward so I delight in sharing hope through just mentioning it, hehe.

Hahaha maybe that's where I drew my inspiration from today, who knows

Having a strong hope will help one get out of a tough situation on time. Even in the difficult moments keep the hope alive.

Nevertheless, hope has to be validated, else, we might individually suffer the effect of being pessimistically affected from being overly disappointed.

Most times when we see successful men like Elon Musk or mark Zuckerberg or Elumelu or Dangote we instantly believe this one's had everything in position for them to scale through, we believe they re super humans of course you might possibly think as brilliant as Elon Musk is he has never failed which is a very strong fallacy that has gotten to us all,

I particularly love to be optimistic and pessimistic at the same time one is to guide my focus on the target the other is to guard against possible fallout or stops on my track and so I say what if's most times.

I believe that hope is just a mare fantasy, whatever one concieve in the mind it's pertinent of that fellow to literally work it out, no magic no guess work , make it happen does the job.

Hope to me is like believing all things being equal (certeris peribus) I should be able to get this done, if all goes as planned. And so I hope.

It’s true that hope often acts as a driving force, motivating us to strive for better outcomes even in the face of uncertainty. It can be a powerful tool for envisioning and working towards our goals.

However, you’ve also pointed out the importance of grounding hope in evidence and effort. Blind or overly assumptive hope can be fragile when faced with repeated disappointments. It’s crucial to strike a balance between optimism and realism, recognizing that while hope is essential, it should be complemented by actions and adaptability.

Your perspective on the power of the mind to imagine possibilities and create opportunities is also insightful. Indeed, our thoughts and beliefs shape our actions and can lead to the realization of what was once just a vision.

Thank you for sharing these reflections on hope and its role in our lives. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this topic further, please feel free to do so.

Yes, the mind is powerful and capable, most of the things were susceptible to achieving is made possible because we can firstly envisage it. The mind is truly powerful.

Wise words. Unfortunately, in some countries no matter how well you prepared yourself (academic training) or how well you do your job, income does not meet expectation by a long shot. Some people keep working and stop hoping; others leave

This is true. Nevertheless, preparations is an entirely different thing.

It's always good hope that something good will come out of one's efforts but, when one's hope is much and things doesn't go as planned, the hope is shattered which will cause the person to start seeing things negatively.

Everything doesn't always work out the way we would like it to,even we hope, we also have to prepare our mind for failure as well, so that when it happens, it wouldn't have too much effect on us.

Preparing one's mind for any circumstances, yet waiting and hoping for the best. That's a great summation.

However, it's important to back hope with proof of work

Oftentimes the effort we put into our goals and dreams can make or break the results. It's not a bad thing to hope but to hope without putting effort is nonsense. It's like wishing you get a toner body but never lifting a pound at home or in the gym. But when you have hope and works really hard, success is waiting. Maybe not the first time you do it, but at least a step closer to it.

The example you gave is straight to the point, abrupt and concise. Hope itself is an instigator, a motivator, when we cannot back it up with proof of work, then it can basically do nothing, irrespective of how strong it seems

It's akin to the concept of work and pray. We can work hard all we want and still not end up with the things we desire to have. But adding prayer to the equation(in this case hope and other related qualities) would keep us moving during the hard times and perhaps, push things a bit into our favor where we can better capitalize on opportunities.

Exactly, even the bible pointed out the essence of work and prayer going hand in hand. It's an already divine concept. Nevertheless, living and hoping like you've pointed out keep us going during tough times

Well, we do not always have to be pessimistic but sometimes it's better to hope for the best while preparing for the worst.

Many people have gone through so many disappointing situations that they have gotten used to seeing things from the dark side.

I do not blame them because life itself is full of uncertainties.
But just as each day comes, so lies new opportunities, Hope should be an anchor to our life trusting that things will get better while we work toward it.

I also do not blame anyone, it's basically how we react to certain psychological situations. So yeah, most times people hope for the best but expect the worst, just to escape being overly dissapointed

It's difficult to hold through the hard times but I do think it's better to stay optimistic. Things won't always go according to plan and we can't do anything but move on. If there are things that you can learn from, learn from them and move on. I think the world will continue to move ahead no matter what we do. So wallowing in the past won't help you.

You're right. Optimism is what generally helps us sustain. Facing difficult times would require optimism if not and without that, we might just be lost in our sadness

I will say about it here that once the trust is lost, then for the rest of the life one can never trust that person, yes, one's friendship is restored, everything is the same as before. But whenever there is a question of credibility in this way, a person must think of doing it again on this person once.
