Why Money is Man's silliest invention

So thanks to Thebighiggs for borrowing me this title. I was talking about the psychology behind invention and why depression doesn't even need to be clinical to exist. I raised an issue on why money drives over 80% cases of depression I've ever seen and he seemed to concur.

Apparently, this shouldn't be so. Back in the day we had wealthy people and a lot of things documented by people who were really wealthy. Centuries back people had classes of wealth, it's either you're wealthy, rich, a bit rich, comfortable, average and then maybe poor.

You had to be outrightly poor to not be able to afford 99% of the things you need. And you don't even need to be rich to be happy. People used money in the early days, however money wasn't a measurement of well-living, it was primarily for exchange and purchase purposes.

You might say life back them was crude, but if life is the 21st century was simplistic and money wasn't exactly tied to everything you need to do to get by, then the rate of depression we will have in the 21st century will be reduced by over 70%.

Before we even begin to look at the financial repercussions, do you know that you now need money to make friends, you need money to be loved, you need it to open doors, to buy access, to belong to a class, to get people to actually like you. Now let's look at the financial aspect.

While we sometimes think it's degree that gets people jobs it's not, it's actually access, connection and reach. Now you might say that these things can be naturally gotten, that's true, but then someone with money can easily buy themselves things that they naturally need to hustle for. If I want the attention of a billionaire, I need to already be a millionaire.

This is how you can be able to afford to be in places where you can find them, maybe the restaurants they eat, or the places they buy clothes.

Rich people don't listen to people who do not already have motion, they need to think or feel that you're up there and that you can also become a piece in their grand puzzle to make them more money. The rich might play the long game, but before you can become part of their long game you need to already have some connections of your own which you might not easily have if you don't buy it.

The difference between a rich man in the 10th century and a Rich man in the 21st century is that in the 21st century money can now buy things you it normally wouldn't buy in the past. The world is now cleverly designed to be unlocked by money and that's why death is probably the only thing that money cannot pay for.

It's ridiculously dangerous and this isn't because money in itself as a tool is inherently bad. Most of man's greatest inventions that we might consider bad are actually not, they're only bad because of the negative utility we give to it.

Humans have broken every barrier and given access to money ro unlock almost every door, this unbelievable access granted to money is the cause of over 80% of depression if you ask me. People who post on cars on social media that's not theirs are doing it to buy access.

The idea that a person is rich and comfortable buys them access, and they can continue to use this access to actually get to where they want. Think about it like this. A person who is joining a drug cartel needs to probably look it.

Maybe have some tattoos, proof that he's been in many fights, have access to local places to buy contraband stuffs and have a history of jail or doing jail.

This is the access to they need to join an already bigger cartel. This is how access bought by money already works. Before you think it's only happening with the rich, then you're wrong. People at the bottom have classes. Infact the highest level of classism exists at the bottom.

You would think that since money is not a barrier to association that every poor person is going to association with themselves, but this isn't true. When people who are poor live in the same society, only people who are actually showing signs of escaping that place of poverty actually bands together.

They hoard every information and every tool that should equally help others too.

You might think rich people are arrogant, poor people are even more arrogant, but the truth is that that arrogance is still driven by one thing, and that's money. Access is the biggest thing that money can buy you, in the past you cannot unlock every door using money, but now you can unlock almost every door at the very essence of human existence when you can buy access.

Now this is why the human morality system is heading for degradation because of the core destruction of the system that differentiates between right and wrong.

Personally that's why I think money might just be silliest invention of man because of how it creates a powerful paradox. As I said, we enabled it, and it's going to continue to open up consequences that we ain't know yet, perhaps in the future, but maybe you and I may no longer be here.

It tends to be self-reinforcing. In my experience, having money allowed me to go out places, meet people, and develop more opportunities. And being broke reduces the going out, meeting people, and reduces opportunities. I suppose the trick is to find a way to be in places where there is opportunity and networks without spending money. But even then, you have to dress and present well.

The difference is that in the past rich people couldn't show off a lot, now you have socials, you see rich men having 10 Ferrari, having all the pretty girls they want, travelling everywhere... And you know you will never make it

It's definitely silly, but you can't disagree that it made trading much easier. I personally think that paper money was probably what ruined it. They can print as much as they want.
