Don't let this happen to you after training

Hi guys, just leaving a little reminder, as always before and after training, to be mindful about everything. Today I experienced some strange sensations, and I don't really know what exactly caused them, but there were also a number of things that obviously didn't help.

I don't know if I suffered from vasoconstriction or something else. The truth is that when I finished exercising and was on my way home, I started to feel sick. I suddenly got a headache, stomach discomfort, nausea, and even a little dizziness. I don't know what it could have been, but there were several factors that worked against me.

  1. Accumulated dehydration: Unfortunately, I spent the entire weekend drinking little water. By this, I mean about 3 glasses of water these days, while I usually drink between 8 and 10 glasses of water. However, I didn't do this on purpose. I had a pretty busy weekend, and sometimes I don't feel thirsty and I completely forget. But I know that dehydration affects the body quite a bit, especially blood pressure, it causes headaches, stomach cramps, and more.

  2. Training intensity: It had officially been two Mondays since I'd been able to do that day's workout, and this day specifically is somewhat intense. I dedicate it to working on my legs and quads. Usually, when I can't go on a day, I just continue the rest of the days with my established routines. Before, I used to move all my workouts around, but now I don't. And maybe today, going back to those exercises was a bit demanding. I mean, obviously the body requires more water due to physical exertion, since it uses more energy, and maybe this has also affected me.

  3. Weather conditions: The weather is currently changing, and the change here is very marked. A few days ago, it was summer in this part of the world, but now it's fall, and next month it will be winter. The truth is that during that transition, the weather turned very cold. Now it's quite cold, and today when I went out, I felt a cold breeze. It wasn't just a breeze, it was actually cold. Obviously, there was a clash between the body heat from training and the cold air, which definitely causes discomfort, and you have to be careful. I did have a coat, but I didn't use it; due to my lack of awareness, I could have even suffered something serious.

In the end, there were a number of factors that could have caused me to feel unwell after training. Here's my experience, so this doesn't happen to you. Today, perhaps I was unconscious, but I'll have my concerns for next time. We have to be careful and take care of our bodies.

I actually use to get something like this every time I did the Salmon Ladder exercise - but it took me so long to figure out because I would do lots of other exercises in the same session. I think it was maybe a problem with my neck or back muscles.

These are really good tips, I hope you're feeling better now.

That's great to hear!

Oh, I have so many tips.

Do you have access to those big rubber bands some gyms have? You can put them around a bar and then put your foot or knee in one and they can lighten the load pretty significantly to help you train up to a pull up.

The other thing you can do is have a box or something near the pull up bar, and basically use it to hoist yourself onto the bar in the finished pull up position... and then slowly lower yourself - that can work the same muscles so that you can get stronger for pull ups.

Hydrating is such a simple but effective tip. Everyone with a sedentary lifestyle would probably have experienced this at some point, I know I did. These are some great tips, much appreciated!

Yes, when I went a while without drinking water (I'm talking about many years ago, I only drank tea, juices and other liquids) and then started drinking it again, I began to become more aware that water really is life and of its many benefits.
