There are some movies I've watched and I keep watching them over and over again without getting tired of them and one of that movie is Gran Turismo.

Gran Turismo is a movie that is base on a true life story and this movie is my favorite because of the strong message behind the story. It is a movie that talks about the dreams of a young man, his persistence, his self belief, and his courage to step out of a comfort zone to achieve what he want. The movie shows how an ordinary person can achieve something extraordinary if they refuse to give up.

Before I say why this movie is my favorite, let me give you a brief summary of the movie.
Gran Turismo like I said earlier is based on a true life story. The movie tells the story of a young man name Jann Mardenborough who loves playing the racing video game Gran Turismo. To many people around him, gaming is just a hobby and nothing serious. His father believes racing should be left to professionals who grew up around cars and tracks, not someone who spends most of his time behind a screen. But Jann sees something different. He believes that his skills in the game can mean something in real life.

The movie begins by showing how much Jann enjoys his gaming world. He knows every track, every turn, and every racing strategy from hours of playing Gran Turismo. So while others see him as just another gamer, he sees himself as a racer. His life changes when a competition is announced. The competition which is designed to find the best gamers and turn them into real professional racers. It sounds almost impossible, but Jann decides to take the chance.

After passing the gaming stages, Jann is selected among others to attend a racing academy. This is where the real challenge begins. Playing a game and racing a real car are two different things. The fear, the speed, and danger are real. Jann struggles at first because he has no real life racing experience like some of the others. He makes mistakes, faces criticism, and even feels like quitting at some point of his life. But what keeps him going is his belief in himself and his love for racing.

One important part of the movie is how Jann never gives up on his dream. Even when people doubted him, he continues to push himself. There are times when he fails badly and times when he feels embarrassed, but he does not allow those times to define him. Instead, he learns from his failures. There were setbacks, disappointments, and hard lessons along the way but he never allow them to weigh him down.

Another part of the movie that caught my attention was how Jann uses his gaming experience to succeed in real life racing. Others rely only on physical training and traditional racing knowledge, on the other hand, Jann brings something different. He understands racing lines, braking points, and track layouts because of his years of experience in video race gaming. What people mocked him for becomes his strength that helped him succeed in real life racing.

During the tournament and races, Jann uses his memory of virtual tracks to make smart decisions on the real track. He knows when to slow down, when to push, and how to stay calm under pressure. This ability helps him perform better than expected. I learned something during his tournament that skills gained in one area of life can sometimes be applied in another area if used wisely.

Another lessons of the movie is that dreams do not have a fixed path. Society often tells people how success should look like and what is considered normal. Jann’s journey challenges that idea. He proves that passion and dedication matter more than where you start from. So the movie encourages me not to limit myself because of what others think about me or my dreams.

Another lesson I learned in the movie is discipline. Jann does not succeed just because he believes in himself only. He trains himself hard, listens to instructions, accepts correction, and improves himself every day. So dreams require effort, sacrifice, and consistency. Talent alone is not enough. Without discipline, dreams remain dreams.

The relationship between Jann and his father is also very meaningful in the movie. At first, his father does not support his dream fully because he wants him to live a safe and stable life. Over time, as Jann proves himself through hard work and his determination, his father begins to understand and support him.

Another thing I learned from the movie is that racing is not just about speed, it is about controlling fear and staying focused. Jann faces dangerous situations, including accidents, but he learns how to manage his fears. In real life, many people face fear when stepping into something new or difficult situations and give up along the line but Jann didn't. So therefore I shouldn't give up when challenges arises.
Many individuals have dreams that others do not understand but they are told those dreams are unrealistic. Like Jann, we may start from places people consider small or useless until we reach our goal.

Personally, I like Gran Turismo because it feels real and relatable. It shows that success is not easy to attain. There's pain, there's failure, there's doubt but if I believe in myself, I will achieve my dreams and my effort shall never wasted, even when results do not come immediately. So Gran Turismo is my favourite movie.
