Content creation, passion and monetization

Content creation itself is one of jobs that I consider to be difficult. It requires a lot of creativity, genuineness and strategy to be able to stand out. In a world where everyone suddenly wants to be a content creator just because of the monetary goodness attached to it, you realize that what a lot of persons put out there especially on the web.2 socials is poor quality effort.

People who have stayed the test of time in content creation are the persons who have been consistent and have found their niche around what interests them which could be their hobbies , what they see on a daily basis, their educational background or even the kind of jobs they do too.

For example, we have content creators who have attained cookery skills. While some are naturally gifted to cook, others acquired such through learning. Both set of persons if at all may decide to go online to showcase their skills and monetize their knowledge which I think makes a lot of sense.

This means that whatever we do, whether a chef, a photographer, a farmer, a barber and so on, we can monetize our skills. I believe that our skills if used properly, are there to educate other persons and that's one of the ways we can help to contribute to the development of individuals. While you teach people what you know, you in turn get value through monetizing it.

Do you know that everyone is a content creator?

I learned from a webinar I attended some months ago that every single person in this world have something to offer. Now let's see this example, you wake up everyday and you live your normal life, going about your normal activities. Imagine if you decide to write down every single thing you do in a day? What is that called? Is that not a content? How about writing what happens in your environment every day? There is no single person alive that doesn't have to write about.

With the advent of technology, I think this is the time that people need to be very intentional about being content creators. Deciding to become a content creator helps you to be more knowledgeable in your field because of course the social space is competitive and to be on top, you need enough engagements and traffic.

If you have an audience, you will realize that anything at all you post flies. Whether it is of quality or not. Why is it so?

Because these people who have an audience have spent so much time building their brands.

If you also notice, people who are doing well already have a particular niche they have carved out for themselves and this is where Passion comes in. It is passion that drives you and keeps you going even though you don't get the required engagements as you should. Passion will help you want to do better at the end of the day.

For hive, it is very different because whether or not you have a niche, you will succeed here. What I mean is that, you may not just only be a food blogger or a photography blogger. You can put up contents on every other topic not being limited to the community you have found interesting. However what is still peculiar is Passion.

It is so unfortunate that these days, quality is no longer valued. I watch some videos on Instagram and I ask myself what the hell I just watched. Just because of monetization, people go extra miles to post rubbish. I saw a video with over 5milluon views and over 3thiusand shares. If you ask me what that video was all about, I cannot even say. In fact, it is now the individual that is measured as being "quality" and not the content anymore.

Summary

  • Everyone is born a content creator.

  • It is only those who go carve niches for themselves that succeed in content creation.

  • Being more knowledgeable in your area of specialization is what will make you stand out from other content creators.
  • Give yourself value by monetizing your skills.
  • Make your content Unique by creating quality contents.
