It's market friday

Hello everyone, been a while I stopped by here. It is not that I haven't been to the market for a while, it is just that I totally forget to take pictures and when I get back home I just remember it. But today, I told myself that I wouldn't forget and gladly I didn't.
So I went to a street market to get some foodstuff for soup. I have been craving Okro soup so badly and fortunately, its the okro season too. If you buy stuff when it is in season, you buy them cheap and well too. So okro is for #100 per portion (approximately $0.24). I bought five portions which is approximately $1.24. I was lucky that all the fingers of okro were fresh. If you buy okro and all of the fingers are fresh, then congratulations to you.
I went over to buy some red meat. I usually buy meat in the evening. It is cheaper because people must have finished buying plenty of it in the morning and the ones left in the evening is just sold at a cheap rate so as not to have leftovers. I do this trick when I am not in a hurry to go to the market actually. So I bought this chunk for #1,500. Which is approximately $3.61
For my okro soup, I love to use stockfish just for the flavour it brings. An ear is sold for #500 which is approximately $1.20. stockfish is not cheap actually. It is one of the most imported fish in my country. I wonder how it is being dried because it is so strong.
I also bought some onions. I am not a fan of onions but I love it in my okro soup. I saute it for 3mins and then cook with it. Its so delicious. So It is sold for #100 (approximately $0.24) per portion and I bought just one portion. The bulbs were so well dried and this type is usually crunchy when you cook with it. That's if you don't cool for long actually.
I stopped by to buy some cow skin. For this special okro soup, you need to use dry skin. In my country, we call it KPOMO. Kpomo in okro soup is yummy. Just to add that it doesn't have taste just that you get that feeling of eating something Crunchy. I usually cut them into tiny pieces so that every scoop I take, I eat something. It is sold for #200 which is approximately $0.48.
I also bought some fresh vegetables. I haven't bought some vegetables in a while because I planted them in my garden. But when I saw these chunks, they were so beautiful that I couldn't resist the freshness. So I bought a chunk for #100(which is approximately $0.24.
Lastly. I bought some tiger nuts. I haven't had some for a very long time. Partly because my supplier travelled back to his base and didn't return until recently. So immediately I saw him, I bought some. A cup is sold for different prices. I bought a cup for #200 which is approximately $0.48
Thank you @dswigle for this #marketfriday community. I enjoyed every bit of my purchases.

Wow you seems to had a great time in the market today, though it's a shame things are increasing in price daily.
Worse is whatever increases in Nigeria never goes down. I hope you have your PVC. This time we aren't joking
Nice to see you buying foodstuff.
I hope you enjoyed the sup.
I enjoyed it till the end. Thank you for reading
I can't believe you bought that large chunk for 1500. That trick doesn't work here in Lagos. They don't mind having left over meat to sell the next day..I wish it does. It will be nice buying a lot of meat because I'm a lover of red meat
Nice market outing. We didn't get to see the soup
Lagos people and meat are 5 and 6. 😂😂.
The soup is in my stomach. Fully digested now. Don't worry next time, I will post it.
Thank you for reading

Everything is so on point.
I laugh in Yoruba for this your strategy in buying meat. Lagos butchers would rather make e spoil.
Lagos people and meat eh... When I was in Lagos, buying meat was like buying gold
I'm interested how all those would taste like. The veggies look like what we call saluyot. I don't know tiger nuts. It's my first time to encounter that I think. I might have but not really sure. It is the same here when buying stuff as the day ends. Most would sell it cheaper. The only drawback is that it's not as fresh. Good thing you were able to take photos and share your market with us.
You did well at the market today! The okra looks wonderful! All of it is fresh and nice looking. I know that is unusual! Congratulations! The meat was a huge chunk of meat! Was it the big piece of the piece he was cutting?
Either way, that is a smart way to buy beef! Are you able to freeze any of the leftovers? Then you can save it for leaner days. You took so many good pictures today! Thank you for that.
Do you notice the market getting higher priced? Everything over here is high now! Thank you for the wonderful post! We have missed you!
Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday! I cannot tell you how pleased I am to see so many participating every week. I have learned so much about the different cultures of the world, especially the small things that go unnoticed except by those looking for them. Life is interesting, wherever you are, whatever you are doing. I hope the week has found you healthy and happy, as we all look to prosper in our way of life.
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.
As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
