My day at the hospital

Last night got me panicking. My daughter was gasping for breath. I didn't know what to. She had a flu the day before and before going to bed that night, I gave a hot water massage. After which I gave her vitamin C to help reduce any kind of scurvy. She didn't eat very well and I laid her to sleep. This was around 7pm ish.

Early this morning, around 1am ish, I noticed the way she was breathing like her nose was blocked. Her mouth was wide open and she was breathing through it. I was so terrified. I got a balm and applied on her chest because I assumed it was cold that could have triggered it. Well, it was really cold last night. I was surprised because the Air condition was turned off and I closed all the windows. I had to even wear her a very warm onesie to hold the cold. Unfortunately that didn't work because I could clearly see my child fighting the cold.

It hurts to see your child going through something that you can't help but wish it was you rather than your child. I held her in my arms and prayed for her. I prayed for the day to be bright so quickly so I can take her to the hospital as quickly as possible. And yes my prayers were answered and as early as 6am, I got her ready to leave the house.

We left and got to the hospital and then I realized that I had forgotten her hospital card at home because I left in a hurry. The receptionist was kind enough to help me. I was suppose to buy another card but she asked me to send her a picture. Luckily my husband had returned home from work. He took some pictures and sent them to me via WhatsApp. I will forever be grateful for technology. It made me pass through successfully what would have been a stressful one for me.

After the receptionist had done her own duty we went over to the waiting hall to wait for the doctor to see us. I was so shocked to see that even that early, a lot of people were already there. It seemed like the flu was just everywhere because 80% of the kids that came had the same issue. A lady who sat beside me was there with three of her children and all of them had the same flu. Well, it is the rainy season and it is quite understandable.

It got to our turn and we headed to see the doctor. He advised that I cover my baby properly at night and even in the early hours of the mornings. He gave me some drugs and I was so glad that it was not so serious as I taught. I hate to take drugs and that's why I always pray not to fall sick at all.

I gave her the drugs as prescribed by the doctor and I am so happy that she is better now. She ate so much after taking her drugs and has been sleeping for over two hours now. I have been checking to see if she is breathing by the way. I know it is funny but I am sure a lot of mothers do that too.

This is just to say that the rainy season is here and we should please cover our kids and even ourselves properly too.

Thank you for reading.
