My food trial

Hello everyone

So recently I told myself that I would be trying out different recipes at least to spice up my meals and maybe have my taste buds thank me for bringing it goodness. I have succeeded in changing my cooking pattern from the usual way my mum did. Sometimes it turns out a disaster while other times, I feel like a chef because of the beautiful outcome.

My Signature Egusi soup

An example would be the way I make my Egusi soup. My mum didn't use the bleaching method and I didn't know about it until I grew up and saw people cooking that way. I tried it once and since then it has become my usual pattern. But recently I found out another method of adding water to the Egusi to form a paste and then fry before cooking. I did this some days ago and I must say that the taste was quite different. My hubby loved it and I think I will use this style for a while.

Anyway, I stumbled on a puff puff making video( I think it is called small chops). Out of curiosity, I decided to watch more videos to ensure I don't miss out on any detail. After being convinced that I could try it out. I got some ingredients ready for my adventure. I bought flour, yeast, sugar, nutmeg and milk. I followed the instructions I saw on the video.

My burnt offering puff-puff

Everything started going wrong when my yeast didn't proof properly. I still continued my preparation and when I had made the batter and was ready to fry, I watched the video once again to see how it was being fried. I fried the first one and it burnt. I thought the heat was too high. I reduced the heat and kept on frying but unfortunately, none came out nice. I am thinking that apart from the frying, the paste wasn't properly done because I didn't measure correctly. I just added the ingredients as I was led to in my spirit. I will try and get measuring cups at least to get the measurements correctly.

My can of Maltina

However, I ate my burnt offering like that hoping to do better next time. I consoled myself with a can of cold Maltina. As if that wasn't enough, the can of maltina had no pleasurable taste. I was hoping to have that vanilla flavour but i can't even explain what i was tasting. Well, what will be will be no matter what. I guess my day was already programmed to go this way. I ate my burnt offering puff puff and my tasteless drink and right now, I am waiting for them all to be digested.

Do you have a better way of making your puff puff come out nice. I really enjoy eating this outside and preparing mine will be super amazing. I will be glad to hear from you in the comment section. @reineesmay you seem to be a professional in this baking thing. Come and rescue your girl please. I need this rescue so badly.

Thank you for reading and see you next time

😂😂😂😂I hope you ate your burnt offering alone. So, there was this time I tried cooking Agusi soup. Before that, I have never cooked any soup, not even stew. I was alone in school. I was tired of buying food every time, I wanted to try something new. So I watched a video on YouTube on how to cook egusi soup. I bought the necessary ingredients and followed the instructions. Only God knows why I didn’t turn out well🤔. I couldn’t eat it.😂

There is this confidence you get after watching a video. In your mind you can do it. Like you are so sure that it will come out nice. It usually doesn't turn out well and I don't know why.

Well yes I ate it alone and I enjoyed it.

It is not funny when you plan a meal and then it becomes a mess. It is so annoying. I hope to do better next time.
