Resiliencia y Empatía: Procesando el Dolor en Redes Sociales | Resilience and Empathy: Processing Grief on Social Media

Hello everyone on Hive and InLeo!

In the days following the earthquake in Venezuela, it was completely impossible for me to watch the testimonies of rescued people on social media. The emotional toll was simply too close and overwhelming. However, now that this unfortunate tragedy has struck our Colombian brothers and sisters, I realized something that made me reflect: suddenly, I found myself able to bear and watch those heartbreaking stories.

This shift in my reaction has made me feel a bit guilty. Why was I unable to process it before, but I can now? Is it a psychological defense mechanism, or do we process pain differently when it doesn't hit directly at home? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Have you ever experienced something similar?
