A Student's Weekend Adventure: see my small circle of activity
Hey Weekend warriors, Hoping to join me on a little Nigerian adventures? It is exciting to share my little weekend adventure with you all which took place in the southeast region of the country.
As the church service concluded, I found myself in a bit of a sprint – not to escape the congregation, but to dive headfirst into my studies for an upcoming exam. With a quick nod to my fellow brethren, I set off at lightning speed, determined to make the most of my time and conquer the endless pages of study material awaiting me at the university hostel.
As I zoomed out of the church, I initially planned to catch a cab straight to the university gate.
But then, a little voice inside my head suggested something different. It whispered, "Why not take a leisurely stroll and explore the bustling market nearby?" And boy,I am glad I listened!
So, off I went, setting out on foot towards the university gate. I figured I might stumble upon some fantastic deals at the market. You see, things on campus can sometimes burn a hole in your pocket, so the market was my chance to snag some bargains. And let me tell you, I struck gold!
As I was walking down the street, taking in the chill vibes of the weekend, I couldn't help but notice how peaceful the town was.
It felt like everything was calm and chill, like the whole universe had decided everyone needed a break from the usual chaos.
When I got to the market, it was a total feast for the eyes with all the different foods on display.
I made sure to pick up a bunch of fresh produce, from garden eggs to local fruits, and I even found some good deals on staples like beans and crayfish.
It's all set for my weekly bean-cooking ritual. I'm definitely looking forward to trying out some new traditional dishes with all this awesome food.
As I strolled, I noticed that the street wasn't as bustling as usual - blame it on the weekend mood.
And let's not forget, the looming exam had most students buried in their books, including yours truly!
I finally made it back to the hostel. The aroma of freshly prepared meals hovered through the corridors, reminding me that it was time for lunch.
As I fumbled with the keys to my room, my stomach rumbled in anticipation.
Once inside, I unpacked all the local treasures I had purchased. The vivid colors of the fresh fruits were incredibly inviting, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement at the thought of preparing a meal with them. I put on some music and got to work in the tiny hostel kitchen.
With my meal ready, I settled down to savour the flavors of the local produce. The freshness of the garden egg, the sweetness of the fruits, and the nuttiness of the grounded groundnut made for a delightful combination, yes! What you should know is that the meal was simple, yet it felt like a celebration of the local flavors and traditions. Sometimes, the simplest and most humble meals can bring the greatest joy.
After lunch, it was time to shift gears and get down to some serious studying. I had an important exam coming up, and there was no time to waste. The weekend had offered a brief escape, but now it was time to focus on academics. I delved into my books, immersing myself in the material and trying to absorb as much knowledge as possible.
Hours passed by in a blur as I poured over my notes and textbooks. The sun fell lower in the sky, casting a warm glow over the campus outside my window. It was a beautiful sight, but I was too engrossed in my studies to fully appreciate it at the time.
As the evening approached, I decided to take a quick break and go for a stroll around the campus. The cool evening breeze was a welcome break from the intensity of my studies.
The campus was peaceful, with only a few students and staff members dotted around, enjoying the quietness of the weekend.
As I walked, I felt a sense of calm wash over me, and I realised the importance of taking these little breaks to rejuvenate the mind and body.
After my short walk, it was back to the books for a few more intense hours of studying.
Finally, the time came to call it a night. The day had been a perfect mix of exploration, cooking, and intense studying. As I settled into bed, I reflected on the day's events and felt a deep sense of contentment. I had embraced the weekend in all its different dimensions, from the vibrant market to the quiet moments of focused learning.
And so, my little weekend lark came to an end. It had been a day of diverse experiences, each one adding its own layer of richness to my life. As I drifted off to sleep, I felt grateful for the little moments that made up this memorable weekend. Here's to many more adventures, big and small, in the days to come!
Cheers! 🌟
