At the moment, cryptocurrency news is rarely off the front page of news websites. Despite the fact that Bitcoin has reached a new all-time high of $60,000 (€50,500), the revelation that Tesla founder Elon Musk is spending billions of dollars on it is news to many investors.
As the popularity of virtual currency trading and investment has grown in recent years, the number of available alternatives to using virtual currencies has shrunk.
True, an increasing number of organizations across a wide range of industries, from major corporations to airlines, are accepting cryptocurrencies as payment for their goods and services, but this isn't the case across the board.

Businesses that accept and use cryptocurrencies include some of the largest and most well-known names in the business world.

Mastercard

According to a statement released back in November, customers of Mastercard's network will be able to buy, sell, and store cryptocurrencies in digital wallets as part of the company's customer loyalty programs.
In some instances, customers may be offered cryptocurrency as a reward in lieu of loyalty points.

In a first for the credit card industry, users of the company will be able to use Bakkt Holdings Inc., the digital assets platform built by NYSE owner Intercontinental Exchange in 2018 and now owned by Bakkt Holdings Inc.

Pavilion-branded hotel and resort complexes

For the first time, a global hotel chain has become the first to accept bitcoin payments as part of its payment processing system.
Through a partnership with payment platform Coindirect, which is set to launch in July, AccorHotels, which owns hotels and resorts in cities such as Amsterdam, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Bali, and Phuket, will be able to accept bookings in more than 40 different currencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum.

AXA Insurance insurance company

It had been rumored that the insurance brokerage behemoth would begin accepting Bitcoin payments at the beginning of April this year. In 2019, market research revealed that more than a third of respondents aged 18 to 55 had either invested in or were interested in investing in cryptocurrencies. This has been a point of consideration for the company since that time.

A reference number will now be included in non-life insurance contracts, which will allow clients to pay their premiums through the Bitcoin Suisse exchange, which will then convert the funds into Swiss francs.

Microsoft

Payments made with Bitcoin are now accepted by Microsoft, which is a significant step forward because it demonstrates that users can feel secure while utilizing cryptocurrencies. Microsoft, the world's largest software company, now accepts Bitcoin as a means of payment. Redeemed Bitcoin can be used as credit in a variety of applications, including Xbox Live and Skype, and can be transferred between accounts.
The company's interest in cryptography, on the other hand, goes beyond that. This month, Microsoft launched ION, a Bitcoin network authentication solution that makes use of blockchain technology to verify users' identities. As an alternative to requiring payment, this technology generates digital IDs that can be used to validate online identities.

Starbucks

Starbucks will soon be able to pay for their purchases at Starbucks with Bitcoin, which has been translated into a range of different currencies through the Bakkt app. The digital wallet was tested as a payment method by around 500,000 people who were invited to participate in an invitation-only early-access program.

Tesla

Tesla CEO Elon Musk's relationship with cryptocurrency Bitcoin is tense at the moment. When the company first announced that it would accept Bitcoin payments for automobile purchases in the United States earlier this year, it received a mixed response from customers. Recently, Elon Musk's business invested $1.5 billion (€1.2 billion) in bitcoin, which has subsequently seen its value increase as a result of the investment. This has been turned on its head with Tesla's recent announcement that it will halt Bitcoin transactions until more than 50% of tokens are mined using renewable energy.

Amazon

Wikipedia
At the beginning of this year, it was rumoured that Amazon was working on a cryptocurrency foundation that would be exclusive to Amazon, along with other internet titans such as Facebook and Google. Despite the fact that the e-commerce company accepts cryptocurrency, it does not now accept it directly. Alternatively, Amazon gift cards and phone recharges can be obtained alternatively by utilizing the cryptocurrency-only firm Bitrefill, which is currently in beta. Bitrefill is a platform that makes cryptocurrency living more convenient by converting Bitcoin into gift cards. It was founded in 2013.

Visa

Visa said at the end of March that it was conducting tests with cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com to see whether it would be possible to accept cryptocurrencies as payment for transactions on its payment network. Additionally, a stablecoin cryptocurrency known as USD Coin (USDC) has been added to the list of currencies that can be exchanged on Coinbase.com.

PayPal

Users of PayPal will now be able to buy, sell, and store a limited number of cryptocurrencies through their PayPal accounts. These include bitcoin, bitcoin cash, and litecoin, among other cryptocurrencies. With the PayPal app, you can also keep track of your digital assets, such as bitcoin, and transfer them between devices. A third-party service is required in order to transfer money out of the company's digital wallet.
According to a business release from August, payments in Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash will soon be available through PayPal's mobile app as well as its website in the United Kingdom.
Payment processing company PayPal has not specified if or when the service will be expanded into further countries.

AirBaltic

In 2014, the Latvian airline airBaltic became the first airline in the world to accept Bitcoin as payment for airfare, making it the first airline in the world to do so. Since the company's Bitcoin payment option was first introduced in 2009, more than 1,000 Bitcoin transactions have been successfully completed. As a result of the decisions made by the corporation, LOT Polish Airlines of Poland followed suit the next year.

Sotheby's

Sotheby's auction house is located in New York City, and it is world-renowned. After starting to accept cryptocurrencies as payment in late June, Sotheby's has now expanded its acceptance to cover both cryptos and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Earlier this year, an auction house announced that it would accept bitcoin payments, leading to the sale of a rare 101-carat diamond for $12.3 million (€10.4 million). When it was purchased at an auction using bitcoin, it became the most expensive item ever purchased in history.

If you bid on an item that is marked "cryptocurrency payments," the auction house will accept Bitcoin and Ether as payment. There are some limits, but only recognized exchange wallets, such as Coinbase, are permitted to accept payments under the terms of the agreement.

Coca Cola

Coke Amatil, the company's Asia-Pacific bottler and distributor, has stated that it will accept bitcoin as a form of payment for its consumers in the region starting in January 2017. Vending machines in Australia and New Zealand will begin accepting bitcoin payments for beverages in 2020, at a rate of around 2,000 per year, according to the Australian Financial Review.

Thank you very much for sharing, it's great to see how BTC is being accepted by differents companies, i think in a close future BTC will be adopted all around the world as the main Payment Method, however, i would suggest to people to Keep their BTC meanwhile and make it grow on their wallets. Spending it as a FIAT Currency nowadays would be a big mistake for me. Greetings

Hello @jsalvage, thanks for sharing this.

Adoption of crypto is increasing in many parts of the world and I'm waiting for when it would be like this in my own part of the world because even the continent itself is still fighting crypto over here. Hehe.
