[ENG-SPN] An architectural reference of Holy Week / Un referente arquitectónico de la Semana Santa
Next to the institute where Antonio Machado taught, in that secluded and provincial Soria that never forgave him, after all, for his wild affairs with a teenager, whom he married, but in the end, it was death that truly changed the ringing of the bells, ringing loudly and leaving the frustrated poet dejected, rises one of the most outstanding Romanesque architectures in Spain, as far as this unique style is concerned and of course, a reference for this tourism, which, after all, over the years, begins to be seen in a city, in which anyone would say that time, its circumstance and its singular paradox decided to stop one day.
The church of Santo Domingo - formerly known as Santo Tomé or Thomas, the apostle to whose Voltairean objectivity we owe the sentence of seeing is believing - is one of the most unique, harmonious and perfect temples, which, seen from any angle and despite the modern buildings that surround it leave no one indifferent. Made, back in the 12th century, by masters and stonemasons from Aquitaine, that region of Provençal France that was the cradle of the most flowery and cultured of courtly minstrelsque, its monumental sculptures collect, as references consigned to the eternity of stone , numerous episodes, which, like a notable history book, collect the main facts and events related to the life of Christ, a very opportune detail to comment on, now that we are at the zenith of a Holy Week that everyone, whether older or younger, to a lesser extent, it overwhelms us and makes us meditate.

This is just so so amazing 🤩
Thank-you
The outer structure of Sanyo Domingo does not look like a church but the inner looks like it better
Such a lovely structure
It is one of the most relevant temples within the so-called Romanesque architecture, full of details, especially on its main door. A jewel of our historical-artistic heritage.
