[Next to this beautiful fountain, crowned by a funny little angel that has nothing to envy its Baroque cousins and that marks the beginning of the wonderful labyrinth -especially in spring, when life awakens after the exhausting winter- known as La Rosaleda del Madrid's Parque del Retiro, I once heard a grandfather tell a curious fable to his grandson, who previously, letting himself be carried away by the magic of the first glance, had asked him about the mysterious faces that, looking at the four cardinal points, perform the function of pipes or servers that supply water to the small circular pond and whose sound, you can believe it, captivates].

[The grandfather, undoubtedly influenced by the experience of a lifetime, explained with infinite patience to his grandson - as Gurdjieff did to his, but saving us nine hundred science fiction pages - that those faces represented the Spirits of Time: the Spirit of the Past, the Spirit of the Present and the Spirit of the Future].

[The boy, however, inquisitive and who knows, if not very convinced, frowned slightly and meditatively asked his grandfather, to whom, then, the fourth face belonged, the one that from his position they could not see].

[And the grandfather replied: it belongs to the Spirit of Water and it has always been said about him that water that you should not drink, always let it flow].
