The surrounding areas of my house provide interesting and often creative ways to see and understand the world. In this series of photos, I shot leaves and plants and tried looking at it from a different perspective. Using my old, trusty mobile phone, I looked at perspective, color, and how layers and framing go hand-in-hand.

Mobile photography can be fun if you just know how to use ambient light. Nature can be the most beautiful thing in the world. Looking at the vibrant colors of nature, I can already feel that steady sense of purpose that emanates from Mother Earth. Grounding and strong, it can rejuvenate and energize our day.

1. Canopy.

The canopy of leaves provides ample shade and protection from the sun. It also makes it possible for me to gaze up into the sky a bit longer. Beautiful scene; beautiful greens.

2. The sun's favorite plants.

The sun seemed to have picked a few plants to shine its light this morning. I loved the illumination and contrast it brings to the whole composition.

3. Welcome to HIVE.

The welcome plant is a permanent fixture in many Filipino homes. Time flies so fast that I did not notice this stem until this morning. It doesn't hurt that another set of beautiful leaves will welcome visitors into the house.

4. Insulin Plant.

This insulin plant is said to be a good way to reduce blood sugar levels; it has other health benefits but it's claim to fame is being a cure for Diabetes. Chewing just one fresh leaf in the morning and at night will help in managing the illness. (note: consult with a doctor before taking anything.)

5. Wall climber.

I don't know what this plant is but I love the shape and color of the leaves. It just started growing and climbing this wall. LOL.
