Repairing My Shoe At a Nearby Shoe Maker Shop; Something That I Don't Often Do

Greetings friends of @diyhub community and everyone in Hive! It's another blissful day to share with you my needle work today. It's uncommon to see me taking my shoe or footwear to shoe maker for repairs unless the situation becomes critical. Most of the work which relates to minor needle work and glueing I often do them myself. But today I couldn't help to repair my shoe myself when the feet of my shoe have damaged and needed urgent repair. For such situation, it's large for me to do so I decided to take it to friend who is a shoe maker. He has been very good to me ever since I became known to him. He is the only one I used to repair my shoes when it's beyond my capacity of repairs and I had also learnt a lot of things from him.

Well, when I arrived at his shop, there are many works he was doing with his Guys apprentices; as many were cutting leathers, glueing and sewing sandals and shoes of all kinds of Gents and Ladies wear. There was a slim chance of attending to my case, but since I've workers with him for so many years he couldn't turn me down my offer. For my case, he told me that he had to remove all the down of the shoe and fix another new one. Yes, I understand this language. He collected my shoe and began to work on it.

Work began! He removed all the down of the feet, cut new quality leather glued them and began to fix them tight. This involved placing the glued down part with the top and hitting Hammer 🔨⚒️ on it. Before then, he led the the glue tried up on the leather before fixing. When he finished, he began to sew all the base with the top to make the shoes very strong. I was patiently waiting and observing all the processes he used. Looking at the feet of this shoe the leather is very qualified and firm. I was even surprised how he could use the needle to pierce through this hard leather, since it's work this was very easy for him.

At the time he was sewing 🪡🧵 with needle and hard thread, soon he finished

It's obvious that something that you're talented with you don't keep long of doing it. Soon, my friend just finished the pair of my shoe while he went on doing other work. He told me that if not that we had been friendship for years he would have postponed my work for next week. I was laughing at him 😂. Upon all the energy he put in doing my work, he couldn't charge any high price for the shoe. But I forcefully gave him some appreciable amount for his effort, after all, if I had sent to someone who isn't my friend I'll still pay something. I sat beside him while learning the leather works and other way new ways of making shoes and sandals, while chatting with him and his apprentices.

Most of the major works I learnt was how to use the modelled wooden foot place on the leather to cut. With the help of marker this was easy done. After marking out the size of of the molded foot, the sharp scissors ✂️ is used to cut out the mark out as the shape of foot that appears on the leather.

cutting of the marked out molded foot of leathers to make sandals

To get it very easy, one can mark out all the leathers with the help of molded foot on the leathers to be worked with. After this glue all the marked out and begin the cutting with the pair of scissors as shown here:

A lot of sandals in stock made for sales are found here. He has about six apprentices who are working with him. As I was there there were many people who came around to collect buy some of the sandals. I am planning if I would get time to come and learn as part time work. But I don't really know how I can combine this with my Gardening work.

I had already spent most of my time here chatting and learning how to make sandals. I had to leave for my house and continue my daily. I rapped my shoe in the my bag and left for my house. Thanks for your attention.

I find their work satisfying to watch😂

It's admirable that you have the skills to handle little needlework and gluing on your own, which I can't even do. In this case, you needed your friend's expertise for a more significant repair. It is clear that he possesses great talent in terms of shoe repair.

This is one of the most difficult jobs, especially since it is manual.
