Farming has become very easy to control weeds with the introduction of the use of Weedicide to spray the weeds. Gone at the days that I used to be in our cottage, in those days we were using the primitive method of farming where weeding is manually done with the hand and cutlass. I remember cultivating 3 acres of land was very difficult to control the weeds if you don't have a lot of family members to support the weeding. A lot of people farms were being destroyed by weeds. But technology has been advanced so many Weedicides have been manufactured. We have many brands of weedicides for weeding various types of crops.

The two basic types of these weedicides are selective weedicides and non-selective weedicides. The selective weedicides are weedicides that are used to control weeds in a selected crop where the weedicide would kill all the weeds and leave the selected crop. Non-selective weedicides are weedicides which kill all the leaves, either broad leaves or grass families. Currently we have different selective and non-selective weedicides manufactured by different companies. Base on the farmer preference, he can buy the best weedicides to control weeds. I must say that weedicides have helped a lot in cultivating large scale farming. For instance 3 acres of land which can't be weeded by 6 people a day, only one person can use weedicide to weed this same 3 acres.

Today happens to be the day I decided to control the weeds with weedicides in my maize farm. I bought 2 different selective weedicides which best control weeds in maize farm. These selective weedicides would exempt my maize and kill all other weeds. In the morning, I got 2 people added to me to help me systematically apply the weedicides in the farm. Below are the materials I used in the farm:

• Knapsack sprayer machine

• water ( about 4 big gallons)

• Nico plus selective weedicide & Karriherb selective weedicide

• The filter net

The best process I used to spray

Most people have been messing up when it comes to the best approach to spraying weedicides to kill all the weeds. First of all, the quantity of measurement of the weedicides per litres of water in the knapsack sprayer machine as prescribed by the manufacturer is very important and the second has to do with how it's been sprayed on the weeds; or the speed of spraying. Lately with the rise of prices of maize grains, these weedicides have increased, so it better caution should be taken not to waste the chemical. It's very simple to identify per each tank the quantity of the weedicides to pour. Most of them have the litre size of small container on the bottle of the weedicides as done with Nico plus and Karriherb selective weedicides.

First of all, I filled the Knapsack sprayer machine with half full of water from the 1st gallon. I measured 1 full size of the lid of the Nico plus bottle into the Knapsack sprayer machine. I did the same to the Karriherb. I topped up the water to the limit of the Knapsack sprayer machine. I shook the Knapsack sprayer machine well to ensure that it's well mixed. I began the spraying by pumping the handle to increase the pressure.

Spraying is done with very carefulness to avoid missing some of the weeds. The Nozzle should be set in such a way the the mixture would be pump well onto the leaves of the weeds. The pump lever should be press up and down to increase pressure, but this shouldn't be force as it could break the handle. When spraying, the trigger and wand is then pressed to release water through the hose to the Nozzle out. If the Nozzle is tightly closed, the water sprinkle become very thin but if it loses it make the sprinkle of the water becomes heavy.

Spraying is done by lifting the Nozzle about the shoot of the leaves so that the solution of weedicides have contact with the leaves directly. Do not rush and avoiding speeding with the knapsack sprayer machine. Look at the direction of the wind and try to move with it. Make sure to use protective cover like overall cloth and nose mask to support prevent inhalation of the chemical which is toxic to our Health. Do not eat while spraying. Wash your hands well with soap after spraying. My spraying was done successfully and I'm waiting to see all the weeds being killed.
