Book review of my favorite author/Огляд книги улюбленого автора (EN/UA)

My favorite pastime is reading, so after seeing @anastasialin's post, I decided to join the Hive Book Club community. I want to share my own impressions of some works and find out your preferences in order to find something new for myself.

Моє улюблене заняття – читати, тому, побачивши допис @anastasialin, вирішила долучитися до спільноти Hive Book Club. Хочу поділитися власними враженнями від деяких творів та дізнатися ваші вподобання, щоб віднайти для себе щось новеньке.

My name is Julia. I live in Ukraine, I work as a teacher. And although my specialty is chemistry, I love books like a literature teacher. For as long as I can remember, my hobby has been reading. I like different genres. I like to pick up both detective stories and novels, as well as poetry collections and fantasy.

Мене звати Юлія. Я проживаю в Україні, працюю вчителем. І хоча моя спеціальність хімія, люблю книги, наче викладач літератури. Скільки себе пам’ятаю моїм хобі було читання. Люблю різні жанри. Залюбки беру до рук як детективи чи романи, так і поетичні збірки та фентезі.

During the entire period of my fascination with literature, of course, favorite authors appeared. Today I will tell you about one of them. This is the Ukrainian writer Max Kidruk. I reread all his works, except for the last one. But there is still time to come and I will definitely buy the novel "The Colony", which has a fairly high rating among readers. It is not surprising, because Max Kidruk is a real virtuoso of the printed word.
In my hands is the novel, which was published in 2019, "Until the Light Goes Out Forever." As for the genre, I would say that it is a fantasy thriller with elements of horror. It tells the story of an ordinary family from a Ukrainian city. The family has two daughters: India, a medical university student, and Ruta, an eleventh-grader. The girls are very close to each other. They do not have close emotional contact with their parents, especially the younger Ruta. The story is built on events that radically change the lives of the sisters. The eldest's fiance dies. Is her sister involved in this? How to change everything? How to go back in time and replay the events in such a way as to correct the mistakes made? You can find answers to these questions in the book. But there is a nuance - the price... That is, for such a privilege as reliving the event and acting differently, it is necessary to pay. The price is quite high - the horror that haunts you, you just have to close your eyes and fall asleep. What if you can't wake up on time?

За весь період мого захоплення літературою, звичайно ж, з’явилися улюблені автори. Сьогодні розповім вам про одного з них. Це український письменник Макс Кідрук. Я перечитала всі його твори, окрім останнього. Та все ще попереду і я обов’язково куплю роман «Колонія», який має досить таки високий рейтинг серед читачів. Воно й не дивно, адже Макс Кідрук справжній віртуоз друкованого слова.
В моїх руках роман, який побачив світ у 2019 році «Доки світло не згасне назавжди». Щодо жанру, то я сказала б, що це фентезі трилер з елементами хорору. В ньому розповідається історія однієї звичайної сім’ї з українського міста. В родині дві доньки: студентка медичного вузу Індія та одинадцятикласниця Рута. Дівчата дуже близькі між собою. З батьками в них немає тісного емоційного контакту, особливо у молодшої Рути. Історія побудована на подіях, які кардинально змінюють життя сестер. У старшої гине наречений. Чи причетна до цього її сестра? Як змінити все? Як повернути час назад та переграти події так, щоб виправити скоєні помилки? На ці питання можна знайти відповіді у книзі. Але там є нюанс – ціна… Тобто за такий привілей, як пережити подію знову та вчинити інакше необхідно заплатити. Ціна досить висока – жах, який переслідує, варто лиш стулити очі та поринути у сон. А що як не вдасться прокинутися вчасно?

The novel has an extremely dynamic and interesting plot. It is impossible to tear yourself away from reading. There is a trace of apt and very ironic humor, which is very characteristic of Max Kidruk. In addition, the detailing of descriptions and nuances provides a full sense of presence.

The book is complemented by a mobile application that can be easily downloaded using a QR code. While reading, you can view the location of the events and follow the routes. This allows you to fully experience the atmosphere of the summer city, understand the routes of the main characters and follow them. In my opinion, it is very original and interesting.

Роман має надзвичайно динамічний та цікавий сюжет. Від читання неможливо відірватися. Тут прослідковується крихта влучного та дуже іронічного гумору, що дуже властиво для Макса Кідрука. Крім того, деталізація описів та нюансів, забезпечує повне відчуття присутності.

Книгу доповнює мобільний додаток, який легко завантажується з допомогою QR-коду. Читаючи можна переглянути місце перебігу подій та прослідкувати маршрути. Це дає змогу в повному об’ємі відчути атмосферу літнього міста, зрозуміти маршрути головних героїв та прослідкувати за ними. Як на мене, це дуже оригінально та цікаво.

If you are not familiar with Max Kidruk's work, I recommend that you definitely read his works. Choose any. They are all incredible. I think such "reading" will bring you great pleasure and you will definitely not regret the wasted time.

Якщо ви не знайомі з творчістю Макса Кідрука, то рекомендую вам обов’язково почитати його твори. Оберіть будь-який. Всі вони неймовірні. Думаю таке «чтиво» принесе вам величезне задоволення і ви точно не пошкодуєте згаяного часу.
