A Shchedryk" that unites (Ua/En)

Hello, friends.
Do you remember the advert with the song "The holiday is coming, the holiday is coming"? There's a huge lorry driving along, all covered in Christmas lights. Now I have a feeling that time is rushing by at the same speed as this truck. And it's not because I'm looking forward to the celebration or the New Year's euphoria. It's just that I can't keep up with the general worries of the day.
This morning, in one of the offices, an employee, a Dutchman, called me up and said: "This is for you". He turned on a video of people singing "Shchedryk" on St Sophia Square in Kyiv. The man said that he had a friend in our capital who had sent this video. He told me that he had been to St Sophia's Cathedral and shared his best impressions of our country and capital for a long time. Honestly, I was extremely pleased.
And in one of the shopping centres I recently listened to "Carol of the Bells" performed by a Dutch choir. Our Ukrainian song is known all over the world. And it is so exciting that the melody unites different nationalities on the most festive days for the whole world. There are 2.5 thousand kilometres between these two choirs, singing the song in different languages, set to music by Leontovych. Despite this, it sounds equally sincere and reassuringly joyful.
I am currently reading a book by Stephen King. It contains a quote from a famous philosopher, but I don't remember who. It goes something like this: "When strong winds of change begin, some build fortresses and fortifications, while others build windmills." I thought about it for a long time. What will we, Ukrainians, do? It seems to me that we are still windmills, and we are trying to tame the winds of change and turn them to our advantage. And we have been doing this for centuries: living, developing, proving our strength, primordiality and right to a place in the sun.
