Caveat Emptor | ZAPFIC50 MONDAY | (3/20/23) - Prompt: promotion [Eng/Span]
The ZAPFIC50 Monday challenge by @felt-buzz, presents the opportunity to explore the prompt "promotion". The prompt took me back to a time when a person's word was their bond in business transactions. A certain of trust was expected and given. A time several decades ago when honest, hard-working people of lower income who didn't have the resources to explore other options often were those taken advantage of. I lived through one of those episodes.
My story is below:
We needed a car. A new one wasn't feasible.
Of meager means, my dad saved faithfully.
The used car sales convinced him the promotion in the Green Sheet was a steal.
Six months later, the car quit. Devastated and ashamed he'd bought a lemon, sudden stabs of pain overtook him.

El reto de los lunes ZAPFIC50 de @felt-buzz nos brinda la oportunidad de explorar el tema "promoción". El tema me llevó a una época en la que la palabra de una persona era su vínculo en las transacciones comerciales. Se esperaba y se daba cierta confianza. Una época, hace varias décadas, en la que se aprovechaban de las personas honradas y trabajadoras de bajos ingresos que no tenían recursos para explorar otras opciones. Yo viví uno de esos episodios.
Mi historia está más abajo:
Necesitábamos un coche. Uno nuevo no era factible.
De escasos recursos, mi padre ahorró fielmente.
Los vendedores de coches usados le convencieron de que la promoción de la Hoja Verde era una ganga.
Seis meses después, el coche se estropeó. Devastado y avergonzado por haber comprado un limón, le sobrevinieron repentinas punzadas de dolor.
