What one says and the way it's interpreted can be completely different. I share a micro story for the prompt "her voice sounded odd" utilizing the ZAPFIC100 format created by @felt-buzz that is told in exactly 100 words.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized @mariannewest's Freewrite prompt:

Below is my story:
Going through hardships can definitely change a person. This was true of Amanda. No matter how diligently she attempted to secure a position within her degree, she failed.
She'd calculate each job opportunity's pay as cited in the listing. If known, benefits were included.
Amanda figured she should be able to move from her parents' home into a luxury apartment six months after a job offer materialized.
A year. Still, no offers.
Perplexed, she asked her parents. They suggested she return to college and actually complete her degree.
Murmuring, her voice sounded odd. Her expression; bewilderment at their outrageous suggestion.
