Eclipsed By Solar | Mixed Media Project

Understanding that she'd never see a total alignment of all eight planets in our solar system during her lifetime, Epiphany vowed that she would witness the next multi-planet alignment that occurred. So she diligently planned for the six-planet alignment that was predicted to occur in 2026.

She had been warned. Numerous times her insouciant laugh not only irritated but also worried and frightened family and friends. It was her recalcitrant nature that won out.

The date and time were set. Travel arrangements in hand, Epiphany called all concerned and left a farewell message. It was as if she knew she'd not return.

Scrambling to halt her departure, in a last ditch effort, her friends raced to her apartment. Their plan: kidnap and bind her so that she wouldn't proceed with her idiotic and dangerous plan to experience in totality the upcoming solar eclipse.

Their attempt was in vain. Discovering their plot, she avoided capture, leaving early and taking an alternate route.

She arrived before daybreak as recommended.

In the celestial alignment that occurred on August 12th, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune all participated in the parade.

Epiphany stood at the core of the cosmic event. Hoping to capture the planet parade in all its glory and magical wonder with the naked eye, she stood waiting. As the moon’s shadow enveloped the world, the corona’s hidden power began to resonate with her every fragment of being. The sighting hurt deeply. Nevertheless, she stared intently without lowering her gaze as if totally mesmerized.

In that moment of universal wonder, the radiant energy did not merely pass through the atmosphere, it sought a vessel worthy of a seeker of universal knowledge.

A sudden surge of pure wave pocket energy enveloped her, rewriting her physical form into living solar light. The garments she wore melted from her body and fell around her ankles. Instantly, her physical weight vanished, replaced by a hum of absolute kinetic heat. Her silhouette became a shimmering tapestry of golden auroras and transparent radiance. The structure of her being shifted from cellular matter to plasma.

Instantly, Epiphany's frame turned in pure gold. Slowly, she ascended, a radiant fire shaped in the form of a distant star against the half-darkened sky.

While the city below remained in darkness, she emanated a glow brighter than the midday sun. The onlookers who had ventured to the state to witness the event adhered to caution and viewed the solar eclipse. Suddenly, someone pointed to the sky away from beginning of the eclipse. Others followed and stared in awe at the unknown apparition.

They had just witnessed some surmised an unexpected added solar treat, probably an offshoot of the flaring.

The rhythmic pulse of solar fusion echoed within Epiphany's new core. She was no longer bound by biology. She became a conscious extension of the cosmos where she always to be and explore the universe uninhibited.

To this day, many speak of the six-planet solar eclipse with a possible seventh sighting.

A micro fiction story and simple design in honor of the solar eclipse that occurred a few days ago. Not in our state's path, I decided to dedicate a mixed media project with a fantastical ending.

Below are my steps in which I utilized Canva, my design program, to blend the different type images which began with a blank, white canvas. I then added layers of elements to assist in the blending process.

I include here the images used in my design. A striped abstract image I designed in drawing program, Bomomo. Also included is one of my pure fractals I designed in the advanced fractal rendering program, Apophysis 7X.
