Looney & Jerke | A ZapFic100 Story Based on 5 Minute Freewrite (Day1974) | Prompt: expensive purse
Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt "expensive purse".
...My story centers around individuals who love expensive items, such as clothing, jewelry, handbags, and even furniture. They can't afford them, but try to find the best prices. Sometimes other unscrupulous people take advantage of people who are looking for a decent price. This is true especially if the individuals don't know how to recognize fake or "knock-off" items.
This new micro-fiction story format was recently created by @felt.buzz. An additional fifty words longer than the usual ZAPFIC50, I can now expand my thoughts into more of a complete story with vivid details. I like to participate in micro stories. Although this version is a longer word count, I still struggle to rein in my thoughts to adhere to the 100-word limit.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized @mariannewest's Freewrite prompt: Day 1974: 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: expensive purse.
Below is my story:
Brandon pulled into the flea market lot. Surprised the location was a warehouse, he suddenly felt jittery. But Jeremy hadn't steered him wrong thus far.
With his Invitation Only card, he stepped into the shop.
Browsing was another customer.
Brandon glanced furtively before handing it to the clerk.
She motioned toward a door leading to a rear room.
His girlfriend desperately desired to be the first of her friend group sporting the newest designer bag. An expensive purse; but cheaper than sewn-in middleman retail prices.
Concluding his back-room purchase, Brandon returned.
Immediately the customer accosted him, flashing a police badge.
